I can officially say I’m a marathoner. Today was my first ever attempt at 26.2 actually 26.45, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to do it than the @marinecorpsmarathon especially on its 50th anniversary. The energy out there was unreal. The families cheering, the @marines motivating us every mile… that’s what carried me through.

To everyone who left voice memos, you have no idea how much those helped when things got tough. And yes, the distance was 26.45… leave it to the Marine Corps to make us earn it for Chesty!

Huge shoutout to Mrs. McArthur who’s always out there supporting her favorite Marines on race day. You’re the real MVP! 🙌🏽

I’m beyond grateful for the experience and proud of the 3:22 finish not perfect, but a start. Welp…On to the next one.

Also huge congrats to all my buddies completing this as well!!

SSgt Lama has officially completed her tour as an 0911 Drill Instructor. Every Drill Instructor leaves behind a story — and she’s etched hers into the legacy of Parris Island. With her mission complete, it’s time to step away from the SDA and answer the next call. Congratulations on finishing the mission and for bringing your own unique twist and energy to the role.
Fair winds and following seas — your impact won’t be forgotten. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit. Today I graduated Drill Instructor School, and did not get one photo alone. Today, I thank my support system and above all else Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior 💛

🔰TO THE SSGT SELECTS🔰Some of this you will want to hear other parts you won't be too thrilled about. Keep reading!
.
🏆You went head to head against your peers competing on a range of leadership attributes such as courage, character, proficiency, developing subordinates and found yourself victorious!!
.
❌Not everyone made it, many of your peers were passed.
.
Below are five things I want you to know
.
1️⃣ When you pin on, your senior enlisted will pull you in and give you the "Keepers of the Flame" holders of tradition speech. Take everything that is said in that mentorship session to heart. I still carry SgtMaj's words with me to this day.
.
2️⃣ As you thank everyone that helped you get here, stop and thank yourself. ONLY you and your family, spouse and kids know the sacrifice it took for you to get to this moment. Yes you had help, but without your drive and determination you wouldn't have earned that selection.
.
3️⃣ Don't let anyone convince you that "Staff Sergeant" is the bottom of the totem pole and you are starting over. To do that is to allow others to discount your years of experience. Never go into a room just to be silent and let the Gunnys or MSgts run and drive the agenda.
.
4️⃣ Find a mentor, things from now on will not be as clear cut as they used to be, cultivate the ability to work directly with other SNCOs that are co-equals.
.
5️⃣ This part might hurt your feelings. This was the EASIEST BOARD you will ever get selected out of in your career. Your next look will be made up of all of those Marines that "Rolled 100s" on their fitness reports and got past the first round. The best of the best among us.
.
From GySgt to MSgt it will get even tighter, you will be going up against Marines that have beaten the competition on multiple boards.
.
I won't talk about the competition to MGySgt because that might make your head hurt !!!😎
.
This means you need to become so good no board member would dare say NO!!
.
🔥Congratulations, as always, remember, only the RANK changes, the PRINCIPLES never do!!!
.
🔰SNCOs add your thoughts!!
