Annie James....is good at what she does, yoga. When I started working with her, I saw the intention she brings....her focus deepens as she works. As a photographer, it was something I really wanted to capture--the deepening stillness and deliberation as she went further into each pose. Shooting from above was one of my favorite ways to get at that. PHOTO #2, photographer @stevebirdsphotography shot with me. Loved that Steve went outside the studio door and shot in to get this shot. We shot at @northlightseattle .

Setup For Firefly Pose…a follow up to the last post. This is the setup for Annie’s firefly pose. Lit Annie with Rembrandt lighting, a single light to her left (used the window side so it’s an enhancement to the natural window light). The strobe is a Godox AD200, manual at 1/8, HSS, fired with Godox trigger XPro, @godoxphotoequipment . Reflected into a 54’ umbrella from Adorama, @adorama . Am shooting with a Canon R5 with RF28-70 lens, @canonusa . Camera settings: 58mm, ISO 400, f4.0, 1/4000., cRaw. Put a GoPro Hero 9 on a 15’ stand shooting straight down to shoot BTS shots every 10 seconds. My shooting position: 1) wanted her framed in that beautiful glass corner and this angle put it perfectly behind her, that gorgeous corner in Northlight Studio 7, @northlightseattle , 2) this angle makes the lighting on her face ‘short lighting’ , where the light comes from a source on the far side of her face…lighting the far side of the face particularly beautiful to me these days. The result was a bit dark, but shooting in RAW was able to lighten it to what I wanted in Photoshop 23.1.1, @adobe , @photoshop , @lightroom . Am VERY grateful about the result (see last post).
