Started the month by seeing my favorite band EVANSCENCE! I saw them in 2021 but due to the car breaking down on the way to the concert, I missed 75% of the concert. This was my redo and I proceeded to attend the best concert in all of my 28 years. Spiritbox and Nova Twins were the openers and they put on one hell of a show as well.

Ripped through 4 books after barely reading during the summer

Big Girl Blitz - Danielle Allen ⭐- my favorite!

The City We Became - NK Jemisen

Fangs - Sarah Andersen

Loving, Ohio - Matthew Erman + Sam Beck

Celebrated my bff’s upcoming marriage by going to dinner and then day to trip to Detriot for admin thangs - congrats to the newlyweds, Mallakah + Taylor! 💖

The month ended with the screening of my newest short film, Opportunity Knocks to a sold out show! People took photos on the red carpet, mingled and enjoyed the film’s message on self belief and creativity. The crowd provided insightful questions to the cast during the Q&A that made way for a great conversation that the whole room can participate in. My film is available to rent on my website: joanmerise.com. #creativity #contentcreator #photodump

2025 has been quite a transformative year and I’m continuing to build on my intuitive nature to alchemize the life I want to live in 2026. Here is to a year full of wonder! 🌈🦄

I’ll be honest—I have no clue how to start this, because there are so many things I could say.

I’ve spent the past 8 years surrounded by some truly amazing people in beautiful, lush spaces in the city where intentional design, plants, and knowledge converged. STUMP gave me and so many others the permission to dive head-first into their love for plants and expand their knowledge. It’s been a staple in the Columbus community for a whole decade, and to say it’ll be missed is a huge understatement.

Another understatement is how humbled and cared for I have felt over the past few weeks from my regulars. You all have no idea how appreciative I am of each and every one of you—the hugs, well-wishes, concern, and promise of future visits had me awash in tears after I left work yesterday… and there’s still another week to go!

Emily & Brian — thank you both for creating something truly special, not just in Columbus, but so many other cities. We will ALWAYS remember this. 🫶🏼
