Thanks to my daughter @natashaseguin Natasha Seguin for the birthday gift of a mini vacation in Ottawa. And to @joserobertcald for the great company. I saw my work at @natgallerycan as well as in the vault of the @canmushistory . Thank you to curators who notice our work and who show our work.

Once again the @oagshop_annexe and @ottawaartgallery have outdone themselves w an interesting exhibit. It’s a wonderful space and the red walls brings back many fond memories of @spaocentre and exhibits. Thank you to @kaybeegee0626 and @katerinaatanassova and @sburdz for coming to see the exhibit. And we capped off a fun visit with a great meal @jacksoncafe.ott Their food is fun and delicious. You can see two of my pieces Flotsam, Nails and Flotsam, Flower Pot. I love that @tomwaits song What’s he building in there? and thought it was appropriate to accompany Flotsam, Nails.

I’m not done with the #ggarts2023 pics, because I need to thank my team! Partner in adventure and life, Ian Verchere set aside his own challenges to be by my side. Good friend and collaborator Gillian Jerome @gillianjerome came for moral support and made space for trans love in the halls of power while she was at Rideau Hall. Two of my nominators, Joni Low @wolinoj and Sarah Cook @littlecurator travelled from Coast Salish territories and Scotland to be there. We missed you, Laura U. Marks! On the National Gallery front, Jean-Philippe Fortier-Lazure @tenor.jp ably managed the exhibition, and curator Stephanie Burdzy @sburdz along with Katja Canini moved mountains internally to make happen my proposal to showcase artwork by @natgallerycan staff. I’m missing photos of all the others who contributed on the staff side, such as senior Curator of Photography Andrea Kunard @akunard; Josée Drouin-Brisebois @jdbrisebois, who first started the process of bringing Boothy in; exhibition designer Ellen Treciokas; the aimiable and admirable conservation and preparation teams who are taking such good care of it; and — well actually, Boothy is engaging with staff throughout the institution, so thank you all. I’m very grateful for everyone’s efforts on my behalf.

The booth in the rotunda @natgallerycan by Vancouver-based artist Germaine Koh, recipient of the Artistic Achievement Award #ggawards2023 is populated by the wonderful drawings of our colleague and dear friend Serge Belet, pictured here during last moment adjustments with curator @sburdz . On his artist statement he wrote: “Germaine Koh has parachuted a telephone booth into the rotunda of the Gallery; aquarium, aviary, place of unexpected and serendipitous encounters. An octopus waves its arms, while a rose dances to the rhythm of Stereolab and Thelonius Monk. Elliot calls from the Palais de Tokyo and the toucan watches to see who will be the first to answer.” So proud and happy to see his drawings of flowers, birds, various objects and places in this Magic Lantern, more @grover_powell #art #drawings #artdaily

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who worked on this book: Kitty, curator and editor, who had the inspiration to undertake an ambitious project with Theaster; Theaster and his studio of course; Josh, Greg and Mabel for their insightful texts; Sameer, for his design creativity; Debbie for many, many things but especially implementing "Letters..." section; editors Gina, Amy and Mosa; Robyn for enthusiastically but calmly keeping the production on track; Stephanie for transcription; and Type A for prepress magic.
