POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Twenty years ago I visited Tokyo for the first time on a Calvin Klein work trip. The city was electric, neon everywhere, Harajuku at its peak, shops full of things I’d never seen anywhere else. It was another world.

This summer I returned on a SCAD sabbatical. The city had changed. Familiar, monochromatic, similar to the West. The electric otherness I remembered had softened into something more global.

As an artist, I responded. Working from a small studio with limited equipment, fewer screens, a restricted palette, and a language I didn’t speak, my practice simplified. The constraints became the work.

Surface & Soul / 表面と魂 is the result, new screenprints, risographs, indigo-dyed and painted works that hold both Tokyos at once: the electric city of memory, and the familiar city of return.

Opening reception: Friday, November 6, 5–8pm

On view November 6–28, open Fri & Sat 5–7pm

You ask, we answer! 🫡

Ever wondered about the difference between your student success adviser and your career adviser?

🤝Student success advisers are located in Bradley Hall and help you navigate your SCAD experience, from planning coursework and exploring resources to understanding financial aid and your student account.

👋Career advisers are located in Deloitte Foundry and help you prepare your résumé, portfolio, and interview skills, define your career goals, and connect with industry opportunities at SCAD and beyond.

We’re bringing both teams together for Advising Cafe, this Friday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon at the SCAD Student Center! No appointment needed. Just grab a sip, meet some friendly faces, and start building your SCAD support network!👏☺️

🏙️Atlanta, we’re teaming up for you all day, every day! You can find all advisers on the first floor of the 1600 Building.

girl, wear your waste?????

….

this is a dress i created with over 300 discarded plastic bags. physical waste meets digital waste. this dress draws parallels between two forms of consumption. through the use of glitches, pixels, and internet shorthand, the garment examines the excess and disposability embedded in our physical and digital environments. #trash
