From a HPP perspective, stepping onto Scallywag from Hobart to Sydney was a powerful reminder of what human performance really looks like when it’s tested for real.

A hundred-foot race boat doesn’t move because of ego or individual talent. It moves because of connection, trust, communication and relentless teamwork. Every rope pulled, every call made, every adjustment under load matters, especially when you’re driving through mixed weather, unpredictable swell, fatigue, and pressure.

This is performance stripped back to the essentials:
• Clear roles
• Calm under chaos
• Shared purpose
• Respect for the environment
• Total reliance on the people beside you

There’s no hiding out there. The ocean demands presence. The boat demands cohesion. And the team demands you show up, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Massive gratitude for the opportunity to be part of something that so clearly reflects the core of Human Performance Programs:
Turning pressure into performance, together.

Experiences like this sharpen perspective. They reinforce why we do the work we do, helping teams, athletes, leaders, and humans build the skills to stay composed, connected, and effective when conditions are anything but comfortable.

Respect to the crew. Respect to the process. Respect to the ocean.

Cabbage Tree 2025 - The Start from where is was sitting. All looked good Masterlock great start, Law Connect had a major rip, and found out later a few recalls at the start.
Lucky to capture Scallywag and Celestial.
Nice breeze, not exactly what was expected but the fleet headed out of Sydney Harbour without any other hold ups.

North Sails Australia’s Mark Bradford joined the SHK @scallywaghk 100 for the 2025 @officialrolexsydneyhobart Yacht Race for a race full of adrenaline and precision across the 628‑mile course. The team was third to arrive in Hobart after a hard-fought battle, which began with a tricky exit from Sydney, then one of the roughest Bass Strait nights in years. Rough, relentless, and physically demanding.

During our dockside debrief, Bradford reflects on a race that tested seamanship as much as speed. Constant reefing, repeated sail changes, and heavy transitions pushed both crew and inventory.

Equipped with a full #North3Di inventory, Scallywag completed the race without a single sail issue. “Bass Strait was as rough as I’ve ever seen it,” Bradford, a multi-race veteran, commented. “A really tough ocean race.” Through it all, the sail inventory stayed intact, giving the team the confidence to keep pushing and execute right to the final minutes.

After a fast but demanding push through the Derwent, this race finished in true Sydney Hobart. style. Well done to the Scallywag team, and now it’s time for their well-deserved recovery.

Fastnet through the Needles 2025
I really wanted to watch the start of the double handed fleet as starting a double handed fastnet is unfinished business for me and i was meant to be on the start line this year. Hopefully 3rd attempt in the future will prove lucky! However the folks wanted to get along to the needles to see the big boats exit the needles and I am glad we didn’t miss it. Great to see
@samdavies_sailing @scallywaghk @team_snef @justine_mettraux @canada_ocean_racing @charalsailingteam @paprec_sailing_team @flying out the legendary exit of the Solent.
Great to have a different perspective and fuel the fires for desires for future campaigns!
Little did I know I would be getting a call a week later offering me Imoca sailing time myself with @francescaclapcich + @11thhourracing it just goes to show that if your chips are down don’t despair because maybe it’s leaving room for better things around the corner!
