The global leader in scalp cooling. We help cancer patients worldwide to retain their hair during chemotherapy

IT’S OFFICIAL. AB 1682 IS NOW CALIFORNIA LAW. 💗

Earlier this year, I stood in front of the California Legislature and shared my experience with chemotherapy and scalp cooling in support of AB 1682.

I never could have imagined that something that began as such a personal part of my cancer experience would become part of a much bigger effort to expand access for patients across California.

Yesterday, Governor Newsom signed AB 1682 into law.

I’m incredibly proud that I got to use my voice — and my own experience — to be a small part of this process.

So grateful to the patients, advocates, clinicians, legislative staff, and everyone who helped carry this forward.

And most of all, I’m thinking about the people who will face chemotherapy after us.

I hope they have more choices than many of us did

AB 1682. We did it. 🥹💗

Two incredible women, two very well-deserved awards.

At yesterday’s Future Dreams Lunch at The Savoy, we celebrated the winners of this year's Lightning Bolt Award in Honour of Nicky Newman and our Humanitarian Award, sponsored by @clevelandcliniclondon .

@carlymoosah took home the Lightning Bolt Award, presented by Alex Newman and introduced by last year's winner @helenaddismbe . Carly is a constant presence for our young women's group, a tireless fundraiser, and co-hosts our BRCA group supporting others facing an inherited increased risk, just as she does herself. She's the friend so many of us turn to when the fear creeps back, even years after the all-clear.

“Receiving the Lightning Bolt Award means more to me than I can put into words. Nicky taught so many of us that even alongside the fear, grief and uncertainty cancer can bring, there is still so much life to grab."

@claire.paxman received the Humanitarian Award, presented by last year's winner @oriordanliz . Claire was just 14 when her mum asked her to cut off her curls with kitchen scissors before chemotherapy could take them...a defining moment that led her father to invent a prototype cold cap. Today, Claire has made it her mission to roll it out worldwide, helping hundreds of thousands of patients keep their hair through treatment.

“Over 17 years at Paxman, I have helped patients understand their options, supported them through scalp cooling and educated healthcare professionals around the world. Giving somebody a sense of control when so much feels beyond their control is something I never take for granted."

Two very different stories, both rooted in the same thing: showing up for our community, again and again.

Congratulations, Carly and Claire. Thank you for everything you give.
