I’ve put this off for so long….how do you put 18 years of your life into one post?
I can’t even begin to find the words to express how deeply I love this team. In 2009 my parents founded the Minnesota Flyers (Park Flyers) Track and Field Club; I’ve never known life without the sport. Through my tantrums as a kid, to my middle school theater kid era, to when I shattered my L5’s sophomore year and had my outlet taken away for 2 years.
I like to think I’m extremely lucky, to have a team so consistent and rooted in genuine care and admiration. To have a group of strangers become my literal FAMILY. These people are some of the most kindest, creative, talented, harmonious, vibrant, EXTRAORDINARY people I will ever know. And I don’t doubt for a second that if I needed them they would have my back, no matter the situation.
It feels weird to leave something that I’ve never been without, but I know it’s not entirely gone. It wouldn’t be special if it didn’t end eventually, and every ending is the start of a new beginning. And I’m ready to give back to this family in a different way now.
I could honestly go on forever about this team and I definitely have the stories to do so😭 But instead I’ll say thank you. Thank you mama and dad, for making something so beautiful that helped (and continues to help) so many people. Thank you Brendo, Calista, and all of your friends for including me as a kid and showing me what branching out can do. Thank you to all of my friends, you guys showed me that connections can truly last a lifetime. Because there’s no way I can go through the rest of my life without each one of you.
This post definitely doesn’t do justice on how profound of an impact you have made Flyers. But I will always put my best foot forward because of you. I will forever cherish the memories we have made and I’m excited for all the memories that will be created. All my love💙💛.
