ESH INDUSTRY CONSTRUCTION DAY 🏗️👷🛠️

We were delighted to welcome Esh Construction to our Bridlington campus at East Riding College for an inspiring Industry Day with our Construction students from both Scarborough TEC and the Grimsby Institute.

Throughout the day, students gained fantastic insight into one of the UK's largest construction companies, learning about the wide range of career opportunities available within the industry. They also took part in hands-on team-building challenges, including designing and building bridges, while developing key skills in communication and teamwork.

Students also explored employability skills, discovering the qualities and attributes that employers look for in the workplace.

A huge thank you to Esh Construction for sharing their expertise and providing our students with real-world insight into the construction industry!

It was great to welcome our Scarborough TEC Animal Care students for an Animal Welfare Masterclass, and they brought the energy, curiosity, and passion our industry needs.

From hands-on taster sessions to behind-the-scenes tours (and, of course, a well-earned lunch break), it was all about building the real-world skills that shape future careers in animal care. Think welfare assessments, practical handling insight, and the kind of knowledge you can’t just learn from a textbook.

These are the skills that turn passion into profession.

A huge thank you to everyone who visited, we loved having you on campus and can’t wait to see where your journey in animal care takes you next 🐶🐾

Deconstructed Cube
Old Parcels Office Artspace, Scarborough
28th March – 19th April 2026

The Old Parcels Office Artspace in Scarborough presents Deconstructed Cube Form. The exhibition brings together experimental sculptures by Paul Bonomini @paul_bonomini, Member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and Chair of The London Group, alongside paintings by OPO Chair Sally Gorham @sally.gorham and work created by students from Scarborough TEC @scarborough_tec

In Gallery 1, Bonomini experiments with three works that reveal the geometry of a cube as something fluid rather than fixed, whilst Scarborough artist Sally Gorham, uses geometric multi-part paintings to construct giant wall mounted installations.

In Gallery 2, students from Scarborough TEC respond to Bonomini’s work through the creation of a collaborative mixed-media installation. Their work embraces the idea that art is not the sole domain of artists but often emerges through collaboration between creative disciplines and specialist trades.

We're investing over £77m to give more people more opportunities to learn new skills for growth. That's new courses, jobs and opportunities like the bricklaying course we've funded at Scarborough TEC.

We recently had the privilege of visiting Nineteen 09 at Scarborough TEC to deliver barista training to their Level 2 Catering & Hospitality students!☕️

From bean knowledge and the fundamentals of espresso, to milk texturing and the basics of preparing a quality coffee. The session was designed to help enhance the students’ skills and support for their breakfast, lunch and dinner service offering.

We’re proud to support the next generation of hospitality professionals and value our ongoing relationship with Scarborough TEC and the local community as they continue to develop the chefs of the future!👏🏻

👷‍♂️ Yesterday our Foundations Ambassador Mark visited Scarborough TEC for an exciting employability and recruitment event!

Students had the chance to engage with a wide range of industry exhibitors, asking questions and exploring the many career paths available within construction. 🏗️✨

Our team at Hobson & Porter proudly shared insights into construction careers and current apprenticeship opportunities.

🧱 During lunch, students showcased their skills in bricklaying and joinery, making the most of the networking opportunity – their enthusiasm and curiosity were fantastic!

A big thank you to Scarborough TEC for hosting us and giving us the chance to inspire the next generation of construction professionals. 💼👷‍♀️
