It was thrilling to have Melbourne rock hero’s, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, one of the greatest bands in Australian history and my personal favourite, dine at Attica.

We all need creative guides to look up to. In 2008 when ECSR’s second album ‘Primary Colours’ came out it was something new and threaded the needle between sounding like it came from here, and avoiding any of the usual cliches. That the band had reportedly recorded it in twenty-four hours at a cost of $1500 and released it on their own label, further impressed upon me the spirit of DIY, and doing things on your own terms.

At the time I read an explanation for the title, (Primary Colours) from ECSR frontman @brendanhuntley , that the band “believes that something beautiful can be made through simple colours or notes or lyrics”. As a chef these words spoke to me because in 2008 I was struggling to reconcile my own concepts of simplicity alongside the strongly established, but somewhat overwrought principles of molecular gastronomy that were so common in restaurants during this time.

As a way of saying thank you for the gift of all the electrifying music, the lessons in how to be yourself, and recently, finally witnessing brilliance of their live performance we were compelled produced a course (slide 2) for the band that mirrored Brendan’s iconic Primary Colours artwork (slide 3).

Thank you Mikey, Danny, Brad and Brendan for the gift of your art. It really has made a difference in my life. And hugest gratitude to our dear mutual friend @scarter5000 for the introduction.
