Off the changeup. Gone.

Matthew Ellis gets a hanging 86.2 mph changeup and absolutely punishes it, sending a fly ball to right-center for a home run. Peoria takes the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd.

The numbers on it:

· Exit velocity: 104.9 mph
· Launch angle: 32 degrees

That’s a picture-perfect swing. Getting a changeup that stays up in the zone and driving it with a 32-degree launch angle is exactly how you end up watching it fly.

The sequence:

· Pitch 1: 85.9 mph changeup - ball
· Pitch 2: 96.6 mph four-seamer - foul
· Pitch 3: 86.2 mph changeup - in play, home run

Mendez tried to change speeds again after the foul, but left it out over the plate, and Ellis made him pay.

More on Ellis:

· 26-year-old catcher/first baseman from Waddy, Kentucky (C, DH, 1B)
· 6’4”, 248 lbs, bats left, throws right
· Played college ball at Georgia Tech, Indiana, and Walters State Community College
· 2026 with High-A Everett: .247 AVG, 11 2B, 17 HR, 57 RBI, .845 OPS in 76 games
· Currently with the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League
