BARE MORNING

Bottega Veneta (2026)

🎶
Pink Pepper & Apricot Seed Essence
Italian Talcum Powder & Freesia
Sandalwood, Musk & Cashmeran

New line from this house!
This was a blindbuy based on notes only and it didn’t disappoint at all…
It’s supposed to smell like morning in the bed between sheets and it somewhat really does.
It’s of course very powdery but as the notes suggest it’s more of a fluffy talcum than something that smells like face powder.
No makeup vibe here, maybe more like skin products and clean sheets made of cotton.
It’s warm more than sweet and not very floral.
A really new take on a powdery and musky perfume that stays closer to skin.
More creamy gorgeousness in the drydown.
I like it a lot…

Trio of Maison Francis Kurkdjian florals…

À LA ROSE (2014)
FEMININ PLURIEL (2014)
AMYRIS FEMME EXTRAIT (2019)

A fresh fruity rose, a powdery floral with violet and a woody jasmine.
Haven’t worn them much (if at all) but I love finding bottles at home and not only buying new ones.
These are some of the less spoken about but it doesn’t mean they’re not beautiful creations.

TUBERÓZA

Nishane

This is a beautiful perfume…
I admit that tuberose can be a tricky note if the perfume gets too heady or even cloying but that’s not the case here. It’s neither dark or spicy like Odor 93 (@meofusciuni_parfums) or Tubereuse Criminelle (@sergelutens) instead the tuberose here is balanced with green and fruity notes by artemisia and orange in the top notes and a herbal touch of marigold in the heart.
The result is a very good tuberose creation with balance.
Great sillage and longevity with the drydown of green vetiver, musk, amber and sandalwood.

Perfumer is Jorge Lee @jorgeleegaitanperfumer

YLANG 49

Le Labo (2015)

🎶
Ylang-Ylang, Gardenia, Oakmoss, Patchouli, Vetiver, Benzoin & Sandalwood

This is a really beautiful floral chypre which somehow smells much older than it is.
And that’s a good thing in my nose.
The oakmoss and vetiver gives it a classic chypre ”bite” and makes me think of how some perfumes smelled during the 70’ or earliest 80’ maybe where the florals where balanced by a generous dose of oakmoss, leather or green notes.
Here the ylang-ylang never gets sweet, tropical or banana-like and the gardenia is politely discreet because of this counterpart with bitter moss and woods.
This one lasts very long and has a great sillage.
Happy to finally have it in my collection…

VANILLE

Mona di Orio (2011)

🎶
Clove, Rum, Bitter Orange & Petitgrain
Vanilla, Guaiac Wood, Vetiver, Sandalwood & Ylang-Ylang
Musk, Tonka Bean, Leather, Tolu Balm & Amber

This is a fantastic vanilla that even should work for people who think vanilla is too sweet.
This isn’t.
Lovely spicy opening with rum and a twist with orange is how this excellent creation presents itself.
The full and rounded Bourbon or Madagascar vanilla is paired with slightly smoky woods as well as creamy sandalwood. Toka enhances the roundness of the vanilla and Tolu balm makes it deeper and darker.
Some musks and leathery facet make this a big very beautiful grown up vanilla…
In the same family as Madagascar Le Baume Vanille from Parfum d’Empire @parfumdempire or Vanille Havane from Les Indémodables @les_indemodables_parfums but this one came 15 years earlier.
Lovely. Exquisite. Vanilla masterpiece…

VINE THIEF

Liberty LBTY (2024)

🎶
Strawberry, Orris Absolute & Liquor
Leather, Clearwood & Labdanum
Condensed Milk, Vanilla & Musk

Unique opening and an instant love!
Usually not a fan of strawberry in perfumes but here with rooty orris absolute it’s really something else and together with the boozy vibe it’s no less than extraordinary…
Then it becomes more soft leathery with a warm woody backbone deepened by labdanum and less sweet than the opening.
Here it’s also a bit powdery in my nose, maybe that’s the clearwood?
Later on it turns a bit sweeter again with milk and vanilla supporting the fluffy musk in the longlasting drydown.
Unusual note combinations and a very unique creation and I’ve never smelled anything similar…

OUDH OSMANTHUS

Mona di Orio (2011)

🎶
Elemi, Green Mandarin Orange & Petitgrain
Osmanthus Absolute & Laotian Oud
Nagarmotha, Ambergris, Cedar, Patchouli & Musk

This is a really interesting take on the floral oud theme and especially if you’re tired of the endless amounts of rose with oud perfumes flooding the market…
Instead here we get the osmanthus flower with its mild apricoty smell and no other floral note.
Real laotian oud is used in this perfume and it’s very smoothly rounded and much less sharp or aggressive than other often synthetic ouds.
The oud here shows up early after the green smoky opening calms down and I’m not sure I’ve smelled osmanthus together with oud before but this combination really works.
Soft velvety and woody smoothness.
The oud in this perfume is there but yet not very prominent, no it’s surrounded by nagarmotha, patchouli and ambergris for a full rounded woody experience and muskiness.
This is a great creation indeed…
We can only be sad that Mona di Orio so suddenly left us only 42 years old.
Imagine what more amazing perfumes she could have created if she still were among us…

IRIS 39

Le Labo (2006)

🎶
Iris, Violet, Patchouli, Lime, Cardamom, Ginger, Civet, Ylang-Ylang, Rose & Musk

This is a lovely smooth irisy creation with violet and with both an old school vibe as well as a modern one.
Not as subtle as Après L’Ondée from @guerlain maybe more in the same category as Hiris from @hermes but less of a rooty orris vibe.
This unisex iris perfume has more of a woody backdrop from the patchouli and a solid muskiness coming later.
Don’t expect your ”granny’s violet” or any make up vibe like in Misia from @chanelofficial despite many notes in common.
I love iris and violet very much…

PEAU SALÉE

Teo Cabanel (2022)

🎶
Salt & Coconut Water
Frangipani & Jasmine
Mineral Notes, Driftwood & Tonka Bean

This is absolutely a delightful beachy creation smelling really good! 💦
Sprayed it on but went to a lake in Sweden (without salty water) and sat in the sun and went swimming there. When I came home I smelled like I had been to the sea wearing some kind of discreet suntan lotion nearly gone on my skin but it still smelled salty and with a creamy floral vibe and warm dry woods…💖
Wow this is a perfect summer perfume!
With or without a sea nearby…🩵
