These vibrant new paintings from Colorado artist, Karen Scharer, are a wonderful sight to see! Karen’s paintings begin as a series of loose glazes of color. As shapes and impressions emerge, she applies layers of transparent and opaque paint to further develop the structure, design, and the impact of each piece. She states; “My paintings are a product of my surroundings and the events and people I observe and interact with every day. Because I work very intuitively, everything I see and experience tends to influence my work...sometimes as major shifts in color or energy, sometimes just as nuance.”

Happy International Women’s Day!
While we couldn’t feature all the women we represent at SmithKlein Gallery in an instagram post, we are immensely grateful for their hard work and beautiful contributions to the art world. They are works of art in their own right and we wouldn’t be here without their courage to be in a field traditionally dominated by men. Thank you!

“I have a strong sense of optimism about people and our ability to overcome obstacles and build a better world where all species – and the planet – can survive and thrive. I hope my art conveys the sense of optimism and gratitude I have for the incredible world we live in." - Artist @scharerstudio

This weekend on Main Street was thrilling! We hosted a fabulous @barbaraheinrich trunk show, celebrated the opening of our latest exhibition featuring @amyvanwinkleart and @scharerstudio, and enjoyed @telluridejazzfestival’s vibrant Second Line Parade just outside our door. 🎺
