Revival is truly something everyone needs to experience at least once in their life

Matthew 28:18-20 - Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

These past few months, I’ve felt a lot like Job. If you don’t know the story, Job was a righteous man of great faith. He had everything taken from him: his children, his livestock, and his health. Yet he never wavered in his faith.

The majority of the Book of Job is a conversation between Job and some of the world’s most questionable friends. They told Job to curse God for what He had allowed to happen in his life. Job wouldn’t. He remained faithful, just as the Lord knew he would.

Because of his faithfulness, God gave Job double of everything he had lost. He gave Job everything he could ever want or desire. Sounds great, right?

Experiencing grief, I’m forced to examine the loss in this story. At the beginning of the Book of Job, it speaks about how Job and his family used to gather for birthdays and celebrate life together. A special kind of joy. These were his favorite people—his village, his community, his happy place.

Then it was all taken away from him, and he refused to curse God.

After it was taken away, Job received double what he had lost—everything he could ever want.

However, I’m left thinking that the only people Job would have wanted to experience those new things with were gone.

This is where joy and grief coexist.

This is where I’ve felt like I’ve been. I’m living in so many answered prayers. I feel so, so blessed. I’m marrying the man of my dreams in 63 days. I get to do ministry and tell people about His love. New nieces and nephews have come into the world, and more are on the way. These are the most amazing things, and they bring such joy.

But I’m always left thinking, Arianna would love this.

These things coexist. Missing her so badly sometimes that it’s hard to breathe, while also being so beyond grateful for every prayer I’m living in.

We must allow space for both. Don’t let the enemy take hold of your grief. Allow it to coexist with the joy and blessings you’re living in and those that are yet to come.

God, I thank You for carrying my family for the last four years and teaching me how to exist in grief and joy at the same time. Tell Nana I say hi. ♡

Here’s some stuff I wish she could’ve seen ☀️
