Tonight I'm at The Orion in Bellingham with The Julian McDonough Band 9pm with a bevy of The Hams all-stars.

Join us!

Also, I'm beyond grateful for Hammond Kings like Justin Smith as I'm long-travel, van-less at the moment.

There were some special moments at @cityofcarnation 's Carnation Concert Crawl. A father and son look on as @silkyt125 @schmitts @micbizzle cover "Summertime" in the style @strutherseric and @ivanneville.

Eric Struthers mentored these musicians and showed them the level of musicianship and music culture it takes to represent the Big Easy as he did with @thenevillebrothers / @aaronneville / @aka_drjohn ❤️.

This Father and son may not know it but they can feel it. That's why they stuck around past ten to stay in groove with this outfit even after the kids had to leave @petescarnation

Justin Smith was also mentored by the late @bernie_worrell_official and performed beside him at some of his last concerts at @wildbuffalo in Bellingham and @nectarlounge — so as the @mavisstaples sang among many, the circle will be unbroken.

We are going to posting some great stories about the man the myth the legend that is @lilblkdelight aka Bob Lovelace from our second episode of 100 Miles of Music with @stingsharkmusic 😊.

Bob has been a true connector and link to so much culture and excellence in our music community for decades. It is time we help tell his story. And there are many charming stories from his days known as Willow on Dead Tour, to opening for @therollingstones with @ayronjonesmusic — to teaching new generations about bass and music theory and life at @seattledrumschool ❤️.

Along with @jimmyscratchjames @kzmusicmedia @michellesingssongs and others — it is almost shocking in the best way how much so few people have made so much possible.

Here he is explaining to @schmitts how music works on an atomic scale as he uses interpretive dance to portray the moment of electrons. Bob is a genius and music is just one way he expresses this.

Also Bob is Amish. But that is another story among many to come.

Justin Smith of the The Staxx Brothers always…and I mean always…gives me the shot I need!

I love musicians that play with absolute intensity. I always like to think that while on stage y’all are in another realm and we are viewing through the glass! Inside is the glass is a wave of sound that everyone is riding and the wave is pushed by the souls playing the music!

Staxx has an intensity when Justin is onboard! It’s fun to watch and even better to photograph when we have Donovan Lighting onboard!

It’s this confluence of art and musicianship makes these shows unforgettable.

Tonight we play at Boundary Bay starting up at 6pm! Kind of surreal that it will be the last time playing there. Come on out and hang with us and enjoy @bbaybrewery before things close down for them here soon!!
