my beloved crashout princess pamela ❤️

I set out on a mission this year to incorporate more creative outlets into my life. Something has been lacking for the last few years; a sense of purpose, somewhere to let loose and be silly, creating something tangible and putting it out into the world.

Theater had been something I disconnected from years ago. Life got too busy and too scary and serious. Theater in high school and onwards lacked the sense of play and community that had brought me to this space in the first place. And I had long resigned myself to the thought that, “Maybe this just isn’t for me anymore.” But I had to try something. Enter AWT.

Walking into auditions day one I knew this space was going to be different. Everyone was so kind and accepting and welcoming and wonderfully weird. And something clicked into place in my chest that day.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would get a lead role. The prospect was daunting. Immediately, thoughts of self-doubt, anxiety, and fear filled my head. But this is what I wanted, a chance to prove to myself that I could do this. And again, this community supported me through every step of the way. Reminded me that we are all so lucky to be able to do this for fun! To be able to sing, and dance, and play every week together. And I am truly so grateful to have been able to pour into this role.

This experience has been so healing. I’m so grateful to the creative team who guided me through this crazy process. To our cast who were so encouraging and supportive. To my friends and family who all came out to see the show night after night. This would have been nothing without all of you 🫶🏽

I’m so sad to be leaving Pamela, my ridiculous, obnoxious sapphic baby, behind. But I’m so glad to have gained so much in return. A new sense of confidence, a beautiful new community, and a return to the weirdo little theater kid I thought I had lost long ago.
