Old photos incoming...

I am happy/sad to announce that I have accepted a job in the Bay area, so my time at @switchbackroasters is coming to a close. From my early days going through barista training to training almost all of our current baristas, it's been a pleasure and a ride. I've learned nearly everything I know in coffee during my time here, and it has been the springboard for the new chapter I'm heading into.

My last day will be Wednesday the 8th, doing what I love best, training some incredible baristas in the roastery.

Unfortunately, I won't have a last day on bar to say goodbye, but watch out for a little going away coffee cart pop-up I plan to host before the fam and I move at the end of April. You won't want to miss it.

I'll update you on the next chapter soon, but for now, just know that I love Colorado's coffee community and everyone in it. It's truly a special thing.

We get a lot of questions about the steaming capabilities of the Argos so we brought in the expert @schwarzy_caleb. He knocked it out of the park on his very first pour and they only got better from there. Thanks to Grant for documenting the fun session and helping drink all these cappuccinos!

✨Consistency is 🔑 ✨
.
.
This is a simple pour. Wing base and a three stack heart or like I like to call it a Rip Trip.
.
For this you simply need to land the pitcher and let the milk gently glide out (you can also push or drift the base for more color distribution in between the lines) and then wiggle the pitcher side to side consistently until you have a pie shape (minus one piece).
.
Then you push in and cut up for each top heart starting a tiny bit closer and using a bit less milk each time to prevent over wrapping. And then of course you cut through! But not all the way through.
.
.
This one goes out to @schwarzy_caleb for the challenge.

Art is alive and it lives in a coffee cup. Our first ever throw down, what a BLAST. @cocoffee_events killed it as always, we’re just happy to play a part 🙇

Throwdown. You know the drill. 48 baristas. One winner.

Dust off your pitchers and sharpen your skills, this latte art throwdown will be a night to remember. We've got a $1,500 prize pool and an espresso machine for 1st place. Do you have what it takes?

Enjoy free Vegan food from the @denverveganvan and @oatly ice cream while you watch or compete. Wash it all down with free beer. What more could you want?

Our judge panel includes CoffeeFest World Latte art champions, long time latte art competitors, and throwdown organizers. With this caliber of judging, make sure to bring your A-game. We will have a live-updating bracket available for you on your phone, so say goodbye to the confusion of not knowing who's pouring or when you're up. Couldn't make it, but want to watch your fellow baristas crush it? We got you. There will be a live stream to keep the homies at home in the loop.

A portion of the proceeds and all donations will go to the Nepal Youth Foundation. The NYF exists to provide high-quality education, health, shelter, and freedom, plus emergency relief when it’s needed most. To date, they have freed more than 13,000 women from indentured servitude in Nepal.

Almost every evening this week ended in rain. Not mad about that

Also a lyric I’ve been enjoying “don’t let it go to your head, love is stronger than fear.“
