Workshop: Communicating Science in an age of Distrust with Tyus Williams 📱

Tyus D. Williams (he/him) is a Ph.D. student at the University of California, Berkeley in the Schell lab and Brashares Lab studying carnivore ecology and spatial ecology. Researching how mammalian predators navigate through a rapidly changing world under human-dominated landscapes and compete amongst each other under environmentally stressful circumstances, Tyus utilizes non-invasive surveillance techniques (such as camera traps with technical tools) to understand movement patterns, predation ecology, human-wildlife conflict, and species interactions to ascertain the long-term consequences of global changes on wildlife communities and human-wildlife coexistence. 🐆

Tyus is also a science communicator, firmly believing that people cannot fully harness the intellectual merits of science without engaging the public in an inclusive effort. ✨

He is the author of A Day in the Life (Big Cats) and you can learn more about his work on his website located in the link in our bio! 📚
