The Young Brother Elmiene @elmiene is Billboard’s R&B Rookie for February.

Since going viral in 2021 with his cover of D’Angelo’s “Untitled (How Does It Feel),” the British-Sudanese singer-songwriter has captivated fans with a voice described as angelic, buttery smooth and unadulterated. His 2024 NPR Tiny Desk Concert, now past 1.5 million views, only deepened the buzz, alongside co-signs from Missy Elliott and Questlove, a Louis Vuitton runway moment for “Golden,” and major award nominations on both sides of the Atlantic.

Now, after a run of acclaimed EPs, Elmiene is stepping into a new chapter with his debut album, ‘Sounds for Someone,’ arriving March 27 via Def Jam. The 12-track set features collaborations with Raphael Saadiq, No I.D. and Sampha, and includes standout singles “Reclusive“, “Cry Against the Wind” and “I Want In”
Blessings,
🤲🏿

✨So… here’s everything I worked on in 2025 ✨That’s 35 albums, mixtapes, EPs, singles, remixes, bundles, and anniversary projects. I often tell anyone who will listen that my life isn’t this way by accident… I have manifested this life. Very intentionally. And this is your monthly reminder that you can too. Anything can be within your reach in this life. Anything.

I’m learning it’s never too late to clap for yourself. And to say 2025 was my favorite year of my professional life… is probably the understatement of the century. From 🏆 4 GRAMMY noms (what?!), to countless video shoots, billboards, promo runs, award shows, photo shoots, creative activations - and everything in between.

Most importantly, I got to work with artists I’m a fan of musically and as humans. I’m also forever humbled that I get to do this with coworkers I genuinely like - that makes the job that much sweeter. 🍯

For 2026, I promised myself I’d be more visible - sharing the wins, the lessons, and the messy middle. Because in this industry we work so hard, often behind the scenes, and I’m proud to lead campaigns for music people live their lives to. 💜

A reminder to baby Kanique watching… “We can go nowhere but UP, from here my dear.” 😉 Cheers to God granting me the privilege to live my dream life. I promise I never take it for granted. 🙏🏾✨
