3 weeks til Budapest Marathon and the long runs have been banked ✅ every single one of them done with my great mate @scott_truman27 🤝 have definitely found another level training together and aiming for the same goal 🙌 best thing is we get to run Valencia together in December as well!

Here’s a simple change in my training where I’ve seen my fitness improve…

Background - I haven’t PB’d in my last 3 marathons. And while I averaged decent volume (125km a week, most of it easy) in my last training build - I clearly lacked some of the quicker Ks. So I’ve taken on some learnings from then, that I’m implementing this time round…

I felt super fatigued last time - and so I’ve stripped that volume back by about 20-25% (while prioritising full rest days). So that means I’m trading a lot of my easier longer runs, for quality sessions with marathon pace.

While I integrated some of these sessions last training build - the honest truth is I just wasn’t hitting the paces required for the targets I had made for myself and lacked consistency. I probably did 3-4 easy long runs for every 1 quicker session.

I found a big reason why I struggled was doing my long runs alone, and that residual fatigue build up from always being at the red line of my mileage capacity.

Now at the end of Week 4 of this build and I’m feeling confident in my body and fitness and the biggest game changer has been running consistently with @scott_truman27 💪 I really admire how he goes about his work, has an absolute engine and of course great craic every time 🙌

Training with people who have similar chip targets but also just overall goals in general helps you find something within yourself when it gets tough - something I found hard to unlock running solo on my longer pacy runs.

That plus the obvious social side, and week-to-week confidence built - I now no longer dread the long run with marathon pace, but look forward to it.

Hackney Half 2026

Home town taken on by 10 of the team in our new singlet. The response and support during and post race has been incredible. Due to the demand, on Thursday 28th of May we will be releasing a limited run of the singlets. 28/5/26 7pm

Two-Side is a product of Hackney and Sunday showed exactly why it is special.

As a Hackney based run club, it really doesn’t get more special than this. You really never disappoint @hackneymoves 💙

Who said running’s not a team sport? 🏃‍♂️

Different race for me at Hackney Half - on pacing duties with @scott_truman27 to help @calumgoddard chase a half marathon PB!

Honestly, it feels almost as rewarding as PB’ing yourself when you get to play a part in helping your mate achieve theirs.

Been training with Cal throughout the winter, and the dedication he showed throughout his London Marathon block was first class.

While marathon day didn’t quite go to plan, I couldn’t be prouder of how he dug deep yesterday and got the reward from all that work. 👏
