Meet the author: Scott Jurek, the ultimate ultramarathoner and human. He shot to fame as part of Christopher McDougall’s Born to Run. (I’ll share the review of that soon). A book that introduced Scott Jurek to the world and also the Taraumara tribe who can run for hundreds of kilometres and not break a sweat. The book Eat & Run is Scott’s contribution to the running world. It has his vegetarian recipes, his life story and some mind blowing tit bits about his life. Did you know he once completed and won the 2007 Hardrock 100 ultramarathon with a sprained and swollen ankle! He says it looked like a grape fruit! He inspired a generation of runners, like me. Meeting him has been a privilege of a lifetime. Scott began running to get out of the house, but he never did that to get away. He did that to bring some peace to himself while he cared for his ill mother. He spent years learning and performing physical therapy, cooking healing food and finding the best trails to run across the world. The book is written for anyone who loves running or wants to take up running because he is not an elitist runner. He is a runner. And a human who sees everyone the same. Here’s to Scott! 🥂 #scottjurek #ultramarathons #running #eatandrun #bookreview

The only thing better than a finish line is sharing it with people I love!💕 Beyond grateful to be surrounded by chosen family who invest in my goals: my hubs, my friends, my run crew, my heroes and the real MVP’s back home who watched our kids so we could chase our dreams 🌈 Chicago made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world! 🙌🏽

Yeaaaa you know it’s that cityyyyy ✨❤️🔥 Sixth @chimarathon and this year I was out there with @hoka to support @hellahgood9 in achieving his personal best marathon time. We knew early in the race that it wasn’t gonna be the day he was hoping for, but we pivoted and still crossed the finish line side by side. I know this course like the back of my hand.. it’s the first ever marathon that I ran and though I grew up in the burbs, I very much consider this my hometown marathon. There’s nothing like the roaring crowds of Chicago and all the memories the city holds. We can measure life this way, amongst others, in how much changes from year to year—in how much also stays the same. Congrats to all the runners and if you’re thinking about getting out there, you have my FULL support. Xoxo Javelina 100-miler end of this month 👀 #chicagomarathon #racerecap

Still cheering on marathoners and getting inspired 16 years after my first marathon on this very course. It was a steamy day out there and I didn’t take as many pictures or videos as usual or see as many people as I wanted to, but I had the best time cheering with team @stillirun! I yelled my head off and cowbelled for like 7 hours today, got to run with my amazing cousin @kattypolack during yesterday’s shakeout, went to Nobody Asked Us with @des_linden and @karagoucher, had high tea, and got to say hi to @scottjurek after meeting him 13 years ago in Boulder. What an awesome and fun weekend. Now, #gopackgo and #brewers, too!!! #sports Congrats to everyone who was out there today!!

For CJ Albertson, running is part of his daily life: he’s good at it, he loves it, and he’s turned that passion into a career.   After an uncountable number of marathons, CJ’s perspective remains refreshingly simple. Race day is about enjoying the moment. The fact that this year’s race falls on his birthday makes the occasion even more memorable.   His message to everyone racing this weekend: Soak it all in. The work is done. Now it’s time to enjoy the experience you’ve earned. Anthony Rizzo brings a champion’s mindset to every challenge.  This weekend, he’s running his first marathon in the city he loves to raise money through the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation for families fighting pediatric cancer.  After years of stepping to the plate, Anthony will be on the Chicago start line, ready to race. His advice to anyone running: Take the next step and enjoy the journey. For Thomas Fafard, running has always been about joy.   This weekend, he’s chasing a breakthrough performance in Chicago. Its timing, location, and fast and flat profile fit perfectly into his training build and gives him a chance to compete against himself.   His message to runners: Have fun. When you enjoy the moment, you run freer, perform better, and unlock that extra gear when it matters most. For Danielle Otto, running is about proving to yourself that what once felt impossible was actually within reach.   Chicago has been her home since 2014, and after years of watching runners pass by from her apartment and telling herself “one day,” that moment has finally arrived. As a Girls on the Run coach, she sees that same transformation in the young runners she mentors every season, helping them build the confidence to do hard things and believe in themselves.   Her message to every runner: Let yourself be proud before you even start. It took months of dedication and determination to get to that start line. For Nikkia Young of Game Changers, running is where she does her best thinking and how she helps young people discover their own strength through movement.   In Chicago, she’s raising money for Girls on the Run chapters in Chicago and Greater Richmond, Virginia, making her fifth maratho

It was a heartfelt and inspiring brunch with @bomfchicago in anticipation of tomorrow’s marathon. I was truly moved 🥹 hearing the impact Back On My Feet has on improving the lives of its members and volunteers. @colo.runner and I are honored to be fundraising for this organization for several races now. It was also wonderful to meet fellow Coloradans and inspirational leaders in the running community, Jenny & Scott Jurek. 🙌

#buchliebe #PaulaThomsen #hybridtraining #genussjogger
