Sometimes, the clue to endometriosis is what DOESN’T move. 👀

🎙️ Your first peek at What We Couldn’t See.

In this excerpt, I sit down with Dr. Scott Young to discuss the sliding sign—an ultrasound maneuver that checks how pelvic structures move relative to one another. Restricted movement can be a clue to adhesions associated with endometriosis.

We explore the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound (SRU) consensus and how changes to the way we perform pelvic ultrasound can help bring previously overlooked disease into view.

Because what we find depends, in part, on how we look. And a normal scan does not rule out endometriosis.

Ultrasound or MRI for endometriosis?

Plot twist: they’re besties. 💕

Here’s the same patient, the same finding, and two different ways of seeing it.

The question isn’t simply “Which is better?” It’s “Which test will answer the question we need answered?”

Dedicated techniques and experienced interpretation matter. Not everyone needs both—and a negative scan does not rule out every form of endometriosis.

Getting imaging for endometriosis? Ask these 3 questions first. 👇

1️⃣ Do you have a dedicated endometriosis imaging protocol?
If not, deep endometriosis may be more difficult to identify and map accurately.

2️⃣ How many dedicated endometriosis exams does this center perform?
Volume can give you a sense of the center’s technical experience with these specialized studies.

3️⃣ Who will interpret my exam—and what is their experience with endometriosis mapping?
Ask how long they’ve been doing it and how many cases they interpret. Because great images are only part of the equation. Expert interpretation matters.

I’m incredibly honored to have been invited as a contributor for the diagnostic chapter, where I dive into the critical role of MRI in identifying endometriosis, as well as our dedicated protocols and reporting standards.
