Progress = Challenge.

Yesterday we showed the side-lying shoulder external rotation — a staple for building shoulder control and strength.

Today, we’re taking that same movement and leveling it up in a side plank.

Why? Because the body adapts to the stress you place on it. Once an exercise becomes easy, it’s no longer creating the same stimulus for growth. To keep improving, especially as a baseball player, you have to continue to challenge the system.

But here’s the key — you have to earn these progressions. Advanced exercises are not just for show. They require mastery of the basics. If you haven’t built a strong foundation, jumping ahead can lead to breakdowns instead of gains.

✅ Master the fundamentals
✅ Progress with purpose
✅ Earn the right to level up

🎯 Shoulder Health Tip for Baseball Players

Side-lying external rotations with a towel roll under the elbow might look simple, but don’t underestimate their power!

This drill is a go-to for targeting the infraspinatus and teres minor—key rotator cuff muscles responsible for shoulder stability during throwing.

🏆 As shown in Mike Reinold’s EMG studies, placing a towel between the elbow and the torso significantly increases rotator cuff activation by optimizing shoulder mechanics and minimizing compensations. More activation = better strength and control.

⚾️ For baseball players, this is essential for building a resilient arm and reducing injury risk during high-velocity throws.

✅ Add this to your warm-up or arm care routine and feel the difference. Precision matters.
