Two special vases from Scott Brough

First vase is the collection: it’s for commission piece created at Bruce Martin’s wood fired kiln last year, we had the exhibition in July which all sold out, this is one more vase available through our gallery now. The story that it’s carried is amazing, this handsome wonderful wood fired vase is perfect scale to hold some fresh flowers or beautiful to store, placing on the shelf.

Second vase is one of his iconic shape vase, wonderful glaze has been shown through this work.

Scott Brough’s beautiful tableware collection has arrived at Public Record. Created following his recent trip to China, this new collection showcases wonderful slip glazes and refined finishing techniques that bring an elevated quality to his work.

Beautifully crafted and a pleasure to hold, each piece reflects what makes functional ware so special: the connection between the maker, the material and the hand.

The artist’s attention to detail and thoughtful care are quietly embedded in every piece.

Today is my birthday. I am celebrating my 31st year on this planet in a place I never expected; China, all the beautiful people and landscapes I’ve encountered, and of course the animals—especially my dear friend Yoyo, then Guci who makes me not miss her absence at all, and all the butterflies fluttering around me—thank you all, I’m so glad we crossed paths. I don’t know, sometimes there are moments when everything seems to equalize. Sometimes I really find life very compassionate, despite everything. All the fog has lifted, the roads are clearer, I am keeping the promises I made to myself; this is truly a wonderful gift I gave to myself, and a slice of blueberry cake. Happy birthday, Berkay. It’s truly a long road with plenty of scenery. I love you, and everything.

I miss you so much, but I know we’ll be seeing each other very soon; I can’t wait to sit in front of your kiln, share plenty of hugs, watch the stars, and make ceramics together ❤️

Slow Burn, at Ponsonby Road.

A selection of ceramic works curated by @public_record_ sits alongside our Spring ’26 collection, chosen for their materiality, handwork and quiet presence. The installation brings together work by independent makers, extending the season’s focus on craft, texture and a slower rhythm.

Everyone I speak to who isn’t a potter says how lucky we are to have such a special community of like minded people woven together by a sticky piece of dirt. Feeling and seeing all of the love in these short moments when I hardly picked up my phone all week captures only but a glimpse into our special world.

EXHIBITION | @scottyb_._ at Kiwi Persian Rug Gallery

Scott Brough is a potter and ceramic artist based in Heretaunga Hastings. Working with a restrained palette of materials and processes, Brough explores repetition, form and decoration through playful, mostly functional objects.

His exhibition closes at 4pm on Thursday 8th October, so make sure to pop in before then!
