From the guest experience to the other side of the table. 👨🏾‍🍳🇯🇲

I recently had the opportunity to serve as a guest judge at @acloungekingston Chef Showdown, and honestly, it was an experience I truly enjoyed.

Getting to taste, evaluate, interact with the chefs and see the creativity that went into each dish gave me an even greater appreciation for the work happening behind the scenes in Food & Beverage.

And the talent was 🔥.

What stood out to me just as much as the food was the teamwork. Creating opportunities for F&B teams to step outside of the everyday routine, challenge themselves, showcase their skills and feel appreciated for their contribution to the guest experience is so important.

As I continue building my career in hospitality and tourism, I’m intentionally looking for more opportunities to become immersed in Jamaica’s gastronomy and culinary industry — to learn, connect, contribute and understand the many layers that make our tourism product what it is.

Because Jamaican gastronomy is more than what’s on the plate.

It’s culture. Creativity. Storytelling. People. Experience. 🇯🇲

Big thank you to AC Hotel Kingston for trusting me with the opportunity to be part of the judging panel. It was a pleasure.

And congratulations to Team La Carte, the 2026 Chef Showdown Champions! 🏆👨🏾‍🍳

Here’s to continuing to eat, learn, connect and contribute to Jamaica’s hospitality story.

Powered by Passion. Driven by Excellence. 🎓✨

The awards have been presented, but for our 2026 Scholarship & Grant recipients, the journey is just beginning. We caught up with some of our awardees to hear about their ambitions, what they’re looking forward to and where they hope their academic journeys will take them. Here’s a look back at our Annual Scholarship & Grant Awards Ceremony and the bright young minds we’re proud to support.
