While this celebration is bit delayed, I’m so excited to share that our show Navajo Highways won a Pacific Southwest Emmy a few weeks back for best informational/instructional content.

Last week marked the start of Season 2 of Navajo Highways and I couldn’t be more proud of this season that we’re putting together!

A huge thanks to everyone involved in this project: those who helped make it and ALL that have supported along the way!

Three adaptive hikers. Rim to rim of the Grand Canyon.

People with disabilities have always desired to do cool, wild, adventurous stuff!! Technology finally has caught up… we can put our desires into action!

Our wheels are our shoes. We use them everywhere we go. Think flip flops (everyday wheelchairs) to hiking boots (off-road wheelchairs) like @gritfreedomchair @bowheadcorp @reactiveadaptations @terrainhopperusa

Let’s go! 🥳

*Sorry CC didn’t upload everyone!

“One in five people have a disability. I would say wilderness has been painted with the lens that it is not available for people with disabilities. We are in the Grand Canyon, we came from the rim up there.

Okay, optimistic? (Male voice)

We’re going down so this is great. It’s like anyone who adventures into the woods, there are always challenges he’s and shit can happen!”

As I watch wildfires burn through the west I can’t help but to think about one of the most majestic forests I’ve ever visited. Several years ago @scottyrog asked if I thought a sequoia tree could be BASE jumped. I had no idea if it could be done, but it seemed like an idea worth exploring. Flying a parachute in a forest is a bit of a nightmare, but nightmares are dreams too. Yes, eventually a handful of us jumped from a 200+ foot tree that was likely over 2,000 years old, but the jumps were far less remarkable than the trees. I will never forget when I first laid eyes on the particular grove we were interested in. I felt like I was looking up the legs of some monstrous giant from a science fiction film. I’m not trying to be poetic, that’s actually the way it seemed. As we spent time in the tree we learned that these trees sustained entire ecosystems within them. We saw birds, animals, and insects everywhere. I especially remember seeing a tree growing up from one of the sequoia trees branches. The bark seemed more like that of a horse or elk than that of a tree. It was impossible to ignore that this adventure was quite literally happening on an object that was very much alive. I don’t see many of the people from that project much these days, but I know that each of us experienced something extremely special in that Sequoia grove during those days. I can still recall a particular moment when the lighting was incredible, the birds and insects were playing their song, and pollen and dust flew through the air. I’ve messed up plenty of times in life, one thing I feel like I did right was saying yes to so many adventures. This project was interesting for me because I largely relied on the strengths of others. All I had to do was get to the top of the tree and jump. Special shoutout to Andee, I believe she was assigned to babysit me most of those days. These pictures were taken by Scott Rogers. Should I try to dig up a clip or two for social media? #tree #nature #outdoors #lucky #magic

When Visit Idaho approached Fisher Creative with the 3100 I Instantly knew the power of this project and the potential for this story. Fisher Creative has been based in Idaho for over 25 years ago and we love this State. It was one of the biggest honors and challenges of our career - and a truly herculean effort to execute against all odds. I’m especially grateful for the Visit Idaho team for trusting fisher creative to bring this story to life - thank you: Andrea Rayburn, Andre Womack, Jeremy chase, & Natalie Jushinski. Storytelling requires an epic team and this project wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and talent from the team at Fisher Creative. I want to especially thank Mike Banker, Scott Rogers, Chris Anderson and Sophie Danison - the core team who spent countless days on the river, behind the lens, and in the edit bay - you guys are incredible. I want to additionally thank Matt Casperson, Greg Miller, Chris Liang, Aharon Bram, Dan Olsen, and Sam Osterhout for their work on the episodes and the film. And thank you to the team at Madden Media for their partnership.
And for all the outfitters, guides, and countless people who shared their stories and time on the river with us - you made this film possible.
Finally - a huge thanks to the Emmys - this award is a celebration for everyone on this team and we’re humbled and grateful!
