We kicked off our Clean Air Day schools programme at Ilderton Primary School in Rotherhithe — and what a day it was.

Working with @southwarkcouncil, @mumsforlungs, South London Scientific and @_splashe14, we spent the day helping children and families explore the links between air quality, health, travel and greener neighbourhoods.

🌬️ Parents joined conversations about air pollution and children’s health
🔬 Pupils became citizen scientists, using air quality sensors to investigate their environment
🌱 Children built mini terrariums and learned about greening our streets
🚶‍♀️ Classes co-designed an active travel banner, imagining safer, cleaner journeys to school
🎭 Early Years pupils helped Mr Clean Air defeat Mr Dirty Air through storytelling, art and play

One of our favourite moments? Children imagining what their streets could look like with less traffic, more nature, and cleaner air.

Huge thanks to the brilliant staff, pupils and families at Ilderton Primary School for their enthusiasm, creativity and ideas. This is just the start — we’ll be bringing Clean Air Days to more schools across Southwark and Tower Hamlets throughout the festival.

Because cleaner air starts with community.

Growing cotton requires a huge amount of water. 2,700 liters are used to produce the average t-shirt (or enough water to fill 30 bathtubs). Cotton also uses more insecticides and pesticides than any other crop in the world, and these chemicals can be harmful to ecosystems and human health.
Then just thrown away to further pollute

Exciting news!

We are launching our third training program in collaboration with @limehousecausewaytra at Westferry @towerhamlet

Our training programs aim to enrich and uplift communities through four main pillars:

Craftsmanship
Well-being
Job opportunities
Craftsmanship is the foundation of each program, providing the skills to transform old clothes into something more desirable than new!

The sense of friendship from learning these skills gives participants a feeling of well-being for making new friends as well, crafts skills as a technique of relaxation.

Job opportunities are a motivating factor; after completion, they have the opportunity to sell their product and offer their services through the reclaimers platform, inspiring each reclaimer to create a brighter future.
