Two weeks tomorrow! The next monthly animation event will be Wild Characters #2 (from 2024) - Alien observers, bespectacled cats and Miles Davis all feature in this collection of films that all have a character based focus. Expect both music videos and narrative short films from Sweden, Germany, USA through to UK.

Tickets are pay what you can suggested donation £5 and all proceeds go towards running the annual festival. On the day tickets £6. A gentle reminder to get your ticket before you come down as the room often can’t accommodate walk ins if it’s at full capacity otherwise it’s too uncomfortable for everyone. The ticket link is in the Linktree in bio ⬆️

What are the monthly pop up screenings? They act as meet ups for local animators and creatives and showcase a variety of repeated animation programmes from the annual festival featuring guest filmmakers. We have a drink and chat about the films afterwards.

If you miss the Instagram posts you can sign up for the monthly e-newsletter that goes out which lists event event link in bio ⬆️

🥚 Out now! Felix Found an Egg by Charlie Miller (@charles_t_a_miller)

📖 A humorous story about a child’s endless imagination.

Felix loves to play in the garden, but he’s always avoided the stinky compost bin – he is sure there’s a monster lurking in there! Determined to take back his garden, Felix musters up some courage and approaches the smelly heap. But instead of a monster, Felix finds… an egg! What could be waiting to hatch?

Felix and his grumpy cat Gary discover that sometimes things that seem scary aren’t what
they appear to be…

🔔 SOUND ON! 🐢 Rediscovering a little collaboration from a couple of years ago with Scribble Room Animation, who brought my tortoise to life! ☀️ It was so fun working with Harry and the team and I love all the little details and movements they added in.
🏀 We also worked with Sounds Like These who did the amazing sound design and created a voice for this little guy! 🌿I had so fun working with them all and would highly recommend @scribbleroomanimation and @sounds.like.these for future projects!

For the next edition of BAM on December 14th we're excited to announce the first of our industry professionals who will be available for one-to-one slots. If you’re a student, new to Bristol or just want to have a one-on-one with one of our industry experts, be sure to come join @skwiglyanimation @sunandmoon_animation and @rumpusanimation at King Street Brew House from 6:30pm!

@harryslingerthompson is the co-founder and creative director at @scribbleroomanimation. He's been in the industry for a decade, in that time, he has bounced between London and Bristol as a freelance animator. He has worked on various commercials and TV series at well known studios such as Aardman, Passion Pictures, Nexus, Moth, Tiger Aspect, Blinkink and many more.

Over his career, Harry has worked his way up from a junior animator to animation director on series such as: #MrBean, #SimonsCat, #PeppaPig, #CounterfeitCat and #Battleworld. His big break came in 2017 when he joined Funko Animation Studios in Bath as head of 2D animation. This was an important learning curve, gaining him the vital skills to take the tentative first steps into co-running his own studio.

As a creative director at a small Bristol studio, he works closely with the animators, designers and board artists to pull together the creative vision for various projects.

Key discussion areas:
-Harry is keen to discuss first steps into the industry.
-Various career paths and what kind of portfolio/showreel you may need for them.
-Happy to look at showreels and offer feedback.

The sessions are 15 minutes long and span from 7pm - 8:30pm. These are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so if you’d like to book a slot email bristol.animation.meetup@gmail.com
