As a proud member of the class of 2026, I graduated from USF with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences with 2 minors in Nutrition and Psychology. Closing this chapter has been the biggest and hardest achievement of my life thus far and there is only more to come! Grateful to my parents for their unconditional support and love! Proud of how far l’ve come and excited for where I’m going! ❤️

Giving back, one bucket at a time. 🏀❤️

This past Sunday, we teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego for a basketball camp filled with skill-building, mentorship, and unforgettable moments. We’re proud of our student-athletes for making an impact both on and off the court while inspiring the next generation.

A huge thank you to @sycuan_casinoresort for providing our campers with cooling towels to help them recover after a day of hard work. Your support helped make this experience even more special! 🙌

Did you know that 75% of the youth waiting for a mentor in San Diego are boys? Many have been waiting for years for a consistent role model in their lives. The Men Who Show Up initiative is part of the California Men's Service Challenge, aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of young men through service and leadership.

Earlier this week, I had the honor of helping @sdbigs launch their “Men Who Show Up” campaign!

When I moved to San Diego permanently in 2005, I was in serious need of a mentor to help guide me down a productive path and build a foundation from which I could then navigate the world on my own.

My mom came across an advertisement for the program just a few months after our move, and she enrolled me right we away. It was simple. I interviewed with Tina, the now-CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County, where I was able to express freely what I wanted in a mentor. It just so happened to be that what I wanted in a big was in alignment with what my match, James, wanted in a little.

On June 17th, 21 years ago, Tina introduced James and I, and matched us after our first conversation.

James’ influence made me who I am today. He was the first person to show me that higher education was an option for me. The first to show me the benefits of exercise, a clean diet, and healthy living. The lessons are numerous: surrounding yourself with supportive people, networking, giving back, investing in yourself, aiming high and taking your shot, broadening your horizons, and also stepping back from time to time to enjoy life.

Two decades later, my big brother and I are inseparable. There are many young boys in need of mentorship right now, and our story is a testament to the effectiveness of programs like BBBS!

Today, our CEO, Samer Khouli, sat down with a representative from Big Brothers Big Sisters as part of the “Men Who Show Up” campaign led by @bigbrothersbigsd and @cbs8.

Their conversation highlighted an important truth: investing in young people through volunteering and mentorship is also an investment in the future workforce.

When we take the time to guide, encourage, and empower the next generation, we help develop the leaders, innovators, and teammates our communities and businesses will rely on for years to come.

We’re grateful to Big Brothers Big Sisters and CBS 8 for bringing attention to the mission of mentorship and inspiring more local businesses and people to step up, get involved, and make a lasting impact.
