POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

San Diego, you were magic.

Our live showcase of Sense of Direction was something special. Raw, vulnerable, beautiful humans opening up about mental health, love, and the messy parts of being alive.

We got the conversation flowing. People shared. People listened. We felt something real happening in that room.

And THAT is why we need to make this film.

Because mental health deserves more than silence. Because human connection matters. Because sometimes a story gives us permission to say the things we’ve been carrying around for years.

What a beautiful reminder of why we create art.

Sense of Direction. This is just the beginning. ❤️

SDPAL congratulates Randi McKenzie, a 2026 Star Awards honoree! Randi will be awarded on Monday, October 26th at Tom Ham's Lighthouse. Thank you, Randi, for the outstanding volunteer service you offer at SDSU School of Theatre, Television, and Film.

Here's more from SDSU School of Theatre, Television, and Film about Randi's involvement:

Randi McKenzie, Associate Dean Emeritus for the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts and volunteer lecturer with the School of Theatre, Television, and Film (TTF), is a tireless advocate for our school and our students. For decades, she has mentored students through programs including Mortar Board and the Educational Opportunities Program, while generously contributing her time to teach movement for theatre. As a former women’s fencing champion trained by the Society of American Fight Directors, Randi shares her specialized expertise in theatrical sword fighting! Her financial generosity has supported the Youth Theatre touring program, study-abroad travel, and all seven TTF Registered Student Organizations. In 2022, she established the annual McKenzie Awards, recognizing outstanding undergraduate theatre students. As an active member of the faculty, Randi is at every show with a smile and positive attitude. She is a true superstar - we are lucky to have her on our team and on our side!

For the next few weeks, I will be sharing the details that went into @sdsudtmfa 's 11-foot Pixel Mapped Lightbox, a project designed and implemented by SDSU MFA Graduate students with faculty mentorship. This one scenic/lighting element used over 11 universes of data to create dynamic images for @sdsu_ttf's production of "Twelfth Night" during the 2025/2026 Season. Help Celebrate our 100th season by voting for this project as a part of the LDI Awards of Excellence program and Go see "The Wild Party" which opens this Friday.
