Last Wednesday October 7th, SDSU’s student organizations; AGC, ASCE, WIC, and WTS, hosted our annual Professional Development Day!

We welcomed 66 companies and more than 400 students for a day centered on career opportunities. Students connected with industry professionals, showcased their resumes, and learned about internships and full-time positions while gaining valuable industry insight.

A huge thank you to all of our platinum, gold, and silver sponsors. We couldn’t have hosted this event without your support.

Thanks to everyone who made the day possible. Hope to see you next year!

💙Congratulations to Nensi Lakrori, named the 2026 WTS Woman of the Year! Nensi Lakrori is a transportation engineer, educator, and passionate advocate for developing future leaders in engineering and transportation. She currently serves as a full-time Lecturer and Beaver Lecturer in Heavy Construction in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at San Diego State University, where she combines nearly a decade of transportation engineering experience with an unwavering commitment to student success.

Before joining academia, Nensi spent ten years designing and delivering transportation infrastructure projects throughout California, Michigan, and Indiana. Her professional experience includes highway, rail, and major infrastructure projects such as the I-15 Managed Lanes and SR-73 Toll Road widening. As a licensed Professional Engineer, she believes engineering is ultimately about improving people’s lives and strengthening the communities we serve.

Since joining SDSU in 2015, Nensi has dedicated herself to creating engaging, real-world learning experiences that bridge the gap between engineering theory and practice. Her classroom extends well beyond calculations and design. She believes every student is capable of far more than they often realize, and that one of the greatest responsibilities of an educator is to help students discover that potential within themselves. Her greatest joy is watching students develop the confidence, discipline, technical competence, and character to become not only exceptional engineers, but thoughtful leaders and compassionate professionals.
