On This Day
Kota Ibushi and Sean Maluta faced off in the first round of the WWE Cruiserweight Classic tournament on July 13, 2016. Ibushi, a highly regarded international star, defeated Maluta, the nephew of WWE Hall of Famer Afa, known for his striking ability and speed.
The match was part of the inaugural episode of the Cruiserweight Classic, a tournament focused on showcasing talented cruiserweight wrestlers from around the world.
Ibushi representing Japan and Maluta representing American Samoa, the battle was riddled with death-defying attacks and hard ambition. The match marked Ibushi's debut in a WWE ring and was a notable moment in the Cruiserweight Classic's opening episode.
Bravo to an amazing match.

In December 2019 I became one of the only men in history to hold both the WXW Championship & the Television Championship at the same time, winning both titles in one night. This Saturday at @wxwprowrestling's 24 Year Anniversary, I plan to reclaim the TV title and become double champion yet again. @thechicoadams, @ramos_nyr, @dominicanvin15 or @realmaluta. Who do you think will walk away double champion? Let’s hear your predictions!
