Our next Workforce Discovery Lab workshop was kindly hosted by SeaTac City Hall!

Our students had the opportunity to begin the session meeting Community Outreach Strategist and Language Access Coordinator, Angel Taherazer, City Manager, Jonathan Young, and Senior Planner, Alena Tuttle.

Afterwards they toured the city hall offices and met several employees who shared their stories, and headed to the court room and met with a judge who shared wonderful insights about the systems and their journey.

Finally to conclude students headed to council chamber where they got to sit in a Q&A panel with...
- Angel Taherazer, City of SeaTac
- Lorraine Chachere, Economic Development Specialist, City of Burien
- Jo Anderson, Inclusion & Engagement Manager, City of Tukwila
- Jesse Johnson, Director of Outreach and Community Engagement-Washington State Treasurer
Students had the chance to go up to a dais and ask questions relating to the journey, advice, and city developments.

Thank to our hosts at City of SeaTac's City Hall, our guest panelists, and all who contributed to our students' learning. Our students are beyond grateful for such a wonderful opportunity!

Last month, we celebrated the grand opening of Métier Brewing Company in SeaTac! ✨

We're excited to officially welcome Métier Brewing Company to the SeaTac business community! As a Black-owned brewery, Métier is dedicated to crafting exceptional beverages while creating meaningful experiences that bring people together.

Their SeaTac location is also serving as a SeaTac Global Soccer Game Fan Zone, making it the perfect place to catch the final FIFA World Cup matches. With large screens streaming the games, live entertainment featuring singers, dancers, and DJs, plus local vendors offering food, drinks, desserts, and community resources, there's still time to join in on the excitement before the tournament wraps up!

Our ribbon cutting celebration featured remarks from Mayor Mohamed Egal, Aleksandr Yeremeyev of the City of SeaTac, and Métier Brewing Company owner Rodney Hines. Congratulations once again to the entire Métier Brewing Company team, and thank you for investing in the SeaTac community.

Be sure to stop by for the final FIFA matches and experience everything this incredible new gathering space has to offer!

Last month, we celebrated the grand opening of Stoup Brewing Company in SeaTac! 🍻

We're thrilled to officially welcome Stoup Brewing to the SeaTac business community!

Originally founded in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, Stoup Brewing has built a reputation for bringing people together through award-winning craft beer, collaboration, and community and now they're doing the same right here in SeaTac.

As a SeaTac FIFA World Cup Activation Site, Stoup Brewing has been the place to catch all the excitement this summer. With only a few FIFA World Cup matches remaining, now is the perfect time to stop by, grab a drink, enjoy delicious food from rotating food trucks, and experience the electric atmosphere before the tournament comes to a close.

Whether you're in the mood for craft beer, an Italian soda, matcha, or coffee, there's something for everyone.

A huge congratulations to the entire Stoup Brewing team on this exciting milestone, and thank you to everyone who joined us for the ribbon cutting celebration.

We can't wait to see this space continue to bring the community together.

I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible staff of the City of SeaTac. Over the years, the organization has navigated challenges, transitions, and uncertain times, but throughout it all, staff have consistently shown resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the people they serve.

SeaTac’s staff are truly the backbone of this city. Because of their work, SeaTac is a place where people feel welcome, safe, and supported. Much of what they do happens quietly and behind the scenes, but it matters deeply. Their passion, heart, and service make SeaTac a better place every single day.

A recent example speaks to this spirit: a grassroots food drive spearheaded by the City Attorney’s Office. In response to the interruption of federal SNAP benefits, staff rallied together to collect between 1,500–2,000 pounds of food for families in need. This spontaneous act of kindness reflects the very core of who they are, leading with compassion, even in challenging moments.

As a councilmember, I remain committed to supporting improved working conditions, investing in our staff and continuing to strengthen our partnership to make SeaTac an even better place to live, work, and play. The dedication of this team does not go unnoticed, and I am grateful to work alongside such remarkable public servants.

130 families will soon call this place home. Proof of what we can achieve when we work together for our community.

A first of its kind in Washington, bringing affordable homes and dedicated support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
