Last week, our comrades in LA and Seattle joined @communistsofamerica @spartacisticl @labormilitant and others in mobilizing to defend Cuba against the US empire. The threat posed by Trump’s attacks cannot be overstated—the potential overthrow of the Cuban revolution would greatly strengthen America’s hand in pillaging the world and weaken the ranks of anti-imperialists everywhere. It is vital for every worker, every member of the oppressed, and every group that stands for them to unite in defense of Cuba! The US government is engineering a humanitarian catastrophe in Cuba, the oil blockade and the economic siege are meant to maximize suffering on the island and force the Cuban people to surrender to US imperialism. ✊️🚩🔥 — Communism is gaining ground in the heart of US imperialism. From the Minneapolis general strike to the growing support for communist ideas, the conditions for revolutionary struggle are developing rapidly. The task is to build the cadres and organisation capable of turning this radicalisation into a conscious struggle for socialism. 🇺🇸🚩☭ — The Revolutionary Communists of America are calling for a vote for Kshama Sawant, and that should surprise nobody. Sawant’s campaign stands against the Democrats and Republicans, fights for working-class demands, and raises the need for a workers’ party, supporting this campaign isn't a contradiction with our revolutionary politics, it is a practical application of them. The fight does not end at the ballot box, we need a mass communist party capable of leading the struggle against capitalism and imperialism. As the midterms approach, the choice facing most workers will be limited: either cast a ballot for a capitalist politician, or abstain altogether. There are 435 members of the House of Representatives, but in most districts, there are no genuine anticapitalist alternatives. In Washington State’s 9th congressional district, however, socialist Kshama Sawant is running against big-business politician Adam Smith. The RCA calls for all residents of this district to vote for Sawant in the August 4 election, and again in November, if she makes it to the final round. ☭ ☭ ☭ ☭ One of the principal lessons of the worldwide class struggle is the importance of the workers acting as a class, and understanding their interests are opposed to the interests of the bosses. Sawant is running against both parties, calling for the formation of a new party for workers, and this is why the RCA supports her campaign. ☭ Vote for Sawant! ☭ Join the RCA in the fight for a mass communist party! ☭ For a workers’ government and an end to capitalism and imperialism!
