Always an emotional day...I can’t believe it was 15 years ago...October 16, 2011...one of the most heartbreaking days of my life and in the lives of so many members of our Seattle U Redhawks Athletics family! There are still tears and tough days for so many of us...but through it all we have the biggest smiles and the greatest memories with our SU Baseball family, lifelong friendships, and we are all stronger than ever because Cam Christian blessed all of our lives! Nothing hurts more than losing someone you love and care about, especially a student-athlete that is so young! Life can change so quickly! Always cherish every minute together with everyone you love and care about...smile together, hug each other, and share the love you have in your heart together! I’m so blessed because of all of the athletes, coaches, families, co-workers, and friends in my life...all of you reading this right now! CAM...you already know how I feel! I love and miss you buddy...but I’ll always cherish watching you play, our text messages before and after games, when you used to come by my office late at night to talk, and when you’d bang on my office window and scare the hell out me, start laughing, and yell at me for working so late and tell me to go home! You were the only student-athlete that always called me “Sempadian” and were one of the few people that could pronounce it right! So many laughs and amazing memories together! You’ve made so many of us stronger every single day and made a positive impact that will never be forgotten! Keep watching over all of us! Thanks for touching so many lives and for being a true blessing to me and so many others! I’m so blessed because of my time with you, our Seattle University Baseball Family, your special family, and all of the amazing student-athletes and families in my life from my career in college athletics at SEATTLE U, USF, and HNU! Cam…you are and always will be...THE MAN! ❤ Always in our hearts #21...thanks for all the smiles, your support, your special friendship, and all of the great memories that I’ll cherish forever! God bless you and your family always! ❤️🙏🏼⚾️

“I’ve always loved the way he works.”

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal spent three years as college teammates with Miami Marlins starting pitcher Janson Junk at Seattle University. He looks back on what stands out most from that time together, and how Junk’s resilience was already on display even back then. Junk has spent nine years in pro ball but only carved out a consistent big league role last season. Skubal breaks down how he’s seen Junk find ways to reinvent himself since college. He shares how much they’ve stayed in touch over the years.
