POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

dear beloved community, friends, and family of studio 7117 ~ the 7117 collective,

it is with humble gratitude for the experiences and connections we all fostered inside our urban ashram. approaching our 2 year mark, we will be closing our doors to our 117 cherry street location. with this said, studio 7117 is not a venue ~~ but a plane, a frequency created for the utmost sacredness for ancestral art traditions to meet experimentation. From the moment we allowed people into our second home, friends reunited over time, new connections formed, generations communed, people turned hobbies into entrepreneurial journies, and artist dreams became self realized in the walls of the peoples' living room. Lives were changed, hearts cracked open, minds were expanded at our underground Cherry Street sanctuary.

Over the summer, we took a little sabattical and tended to our own personal art practice and home life. During that time, management changed with our landlords and they ultimately decided to terminate our lease. Although this may come to a shock to our community, like it did for us, we are more excited to program and create closer to home in South Seattle, hopefully in the CID, and especially west coast, nationally ++ globally.

Studio 7117 started off as a husband-wife production and design studio in 2017, moved through 3 states, 3 commercial spots, and now growing alongside 3 children. It is beyond what we could imagine, and what we realized is that we needed to build 7117 Collective to include our community.

with so much heartfelt thanks to you and the Most High, thank you for making 117 Cherry Street the most sacred space in Pioneer Square.

we'll see you soon. & remember, shoes off at the door! Feel free to share your favorite memory down below so we can archive our memories together.

Bless,
Dany, Devyn & the kiddos

Meet other clubs, campus partners, and community groups at our Fall Involvement Fair at our First Hill campus on September 29th! My favorite club memory, had to be when in April, AIG got the chance to be shown around the Merril Lynch office downtown. It was such an awesome experience to get first-hand insight from industry professionals, doing what a lot of our members aspire to do one day.

If you're in the Seattle area this weekend and want to celebrate AAPI heritage month, come check out Seattle University's own Khmer Student Association.

They're hosting their first ever New Year Show this Saturday at 6pm. There's going to be performances, food, vendors and all types of things to celebrate Cambodian culture.

Not only that, its free to the public. Follow them @seattleukhsa for more information!

Also, shout out to @studio.7117! I captured this footage of these Khmer dancers in their space.

Took part in the second annual KNY celebration at @studio.7117 yesterday, I showed (and sold!) “Dropping The Flower.” I also coerced Aaliyah Uy @goodjobliyah to join me, showing her painting “tendril, leaf, fruit and flowers” that she was working on during the time I took her portrait for the collective. Would like to extend thank yous to Eazy Duz It CC for their time and energy.

Thank you to @sreydanyco for allowing me to take part in this modern take of Khmer New Year. I am excited to see where your practice takes you.
