Wall Paper Boy marks the return of TOMA-L to New York City. Did you know that TOMA-L was the first artist we ever invited to exhibit at FREVO? In 2019, TOMA-L aka Thomas came to New York while Bernardo and Chef Franco were still renovating the space. Thomas set up his own studio in the future gallery space and painted the first two collections ever exhibited there. The rest is history. 📷: @ivanni.jamin

TOMA-L returns to FREVO FREVO is proud to present Wall Paper Boy, the newest series by longtime collaborator Thomas Labarthe (TOMA-L). Created during his return to New York, this body of work introduces a refined visual language in which wallpaper collage, charcoal, and paint merge into a single instinctive rhythm. In this innovative installation, TOMA-L also uses handmade wallpapers as backgrounds for his canvases, extending the composition beyond the frame. Gestural figures are built through cutting, tearing, drawing, and painting in rapid, intuitive succession — a continuation of his practice of automatic writing. Handmade Wallpaper by Atelier d’Offard For the exhibition, TOMA-L partnered with @atelierdoffard , one of France’s leading handcrafted wallpaper houses. Renowned for reviving traditional block-printing techniques using natural pigments and custom tools, Atelier d’Offard produced custom wallpapers that anchor and enrich the visual world of Wall Paper Boy. Visit the Exhibition Wall Paper Boy is now on view at the FREVO. Stop by the gallery to explore the new collection and join us for dinner to see the rest of the exhibition unfold inside the restaurant.
