Senior Photos: Ronan

Ronan’s concept for his senior photo was based on a scene from the film Hari Kiri. While we didn’t capture the scene or the intensity of the film perfectly by any means. What we did capture is a look at a powerful, introspective, patient young man, who has more discipline and wisdom at 17 than his father can fathom. It is an honor to document this moment with him, in a woods where we both grew up.

Northcoast Festival ‘26, VEGA
This stage is just so damn wide, so much LED, so much fire and lasers, a field full of crazy costumed kids.

To capture these full stage shots, with no distortion, full crowd, we had to get up on a boom lift 30 yards back into the parking lot behind the back field fence, and go about 60ft up. We stayed up for the closing two sets Friday night and the results were well worth it.

Last notes of Late Summer’s song in Vacationland
Pt. 2 along the Saco River with Bruce Bane

24-70mm 2.8mm Nikon Z II tests,
using infrared and vintage film styles.

Wind willing, my balance has returned,
enough to careful leap from river stone
to stone, and scrabble up embankments
with my woodland partner, Bruce Bane.

These are the last images I shot before going into what ended up being a 2 month hiatus from my passion of photography.

Many times during my absence from the practice did I look at these images, but never shared. They are unique and different for me, shot on an infrared modified body on a telephoto prime at 150mm. They are results of three woods walks at the edge of winter, the cusp of spring.
I want to print them big and show them, both alien and of my heart. Hope someone digs the tiny online screen experience of these oddities.
