So much work goes into the annual Hamaguchi Printmedia Exhibition from making art, to learning how to apply for opportunities, to framing, and installing the exhibition! Congratulations to all the winners and here is Print Major Michael Seybold framing his fantastic screen prints.

Come see them tonight at CCA’s Novack Gallery! We invite the CCA community and friends of Print throughout the Bay Area to join us on September 9, 2026 at 5 PM.

The Printmedia Program is delighted to announce the 31st annual Yozo Hamaguchi Printmedia Scholarship Award Exhibition, celebrating the excellent work of CCA students in the field of Printmaking.

Thank you to everyone who submitted their work for the Hamaguchi Award! The jurors noted that all applicants had strong pieces, and we encourage you to take a class in the Printmedia Program next year, continue working on developing the craft of print and the conceptual angle of your work. We wish all students the best for your ongoing studies.

Watch for new Hamaguchi initiatives to support ALL enrolled students in Fall 2026 Print classes.

A special thanks to our guest jurors Professors Mikae Hara, Shanna Strauss, Anthea Black, Professor Kathy Lam of Furniture, who made magic happen for 2 days of redwood carving with our visiting artist Alison Saar, and Ingrid Wells in Fine Arts for supporting the Hamaguchi program.

We look forward to seeing you all at the exhibition reception in the Fall of next school year!

Thank you,
Anthea Black

Get to know the CCA Fine Arts Division!

This is Michael, a third-year Printmedia student.

Printmedia students at CCA explore the depth and range of print techniques, (from intaglio and letterpress to screenprinting, risograph, and digital tools) while building a strong foundation in both process and creative thinking. CCA’s Printmedia studios are a place to mix traditional printing methods with bold ideas and personal expression. Students might make zines, print creative writing on fabric, build sculptures wheatpasted with posters, or create installations and performances amplified by printed art. No matter what students pursue, they’ll gain skills that translate across disciplines and learn how to use print as a powerful tool for storytelling, activism, and creative impact in today’s image-saturated world.

Took me a while but here are the 12 Dancestors for my AU. I have 6 more characters to make and a few guardians but in like 2-5 days I’ll have the entire cast. N am gonna continue being able to animate the story & start getting some strife cutscenes ready really excited. If I tagged you u where a big inspiration to the characters design & traits. Can’t wait to show you the YT let’s read maybe some of you would consider being Voice actors for the rolls? #homestuck #homestuck2 #mspa #hsau #homestuckau #homestuckfanart
