Secular Music Group :: Volume 3

Since emerging out of the wilds of Connecticut a few years back, SMG have released three LPs worth of rapturous sounds, each moment filled with pure melody, meditative rhythm and immersive textures, all captured wondrously on vintage 4-track ¼” tape. It’s like Gil Evans arranging an album by Natural Information Society, finding a perfect blend of gorgeously pastel hues and minimalist restraint.

Now at AD.

@weirdmusicnight at @thealdrich really did what it said on the label. a local gem of a museum that I can’t believe I didn’t realize was in the area, currently showing an exhibit featuring locally practicing artists. worth checking out.

ft. @secmusgrp, @a.i.pacino (not pictured but damn dude, you were perfectly weird) and @cryptwarbler with the coolest contraption I’ve seen in a long time

Scenes from SMG session #4. A full album in three days, 6pc group with vocals, live to 4-track 1/4” tape. The first full-band session here in my new studio. It was an epic undertaking and we pulled it off. This is an amazing group of incredibly skilled, creative, and versatile artists and I am grateful for every opportunity that we have to work together. @xenoandoaklander ; @ted_morcaldi ; @meshkimono ; @lapine.greg ; @yourkings.
