To be honest, this past week has been heavy. But as always, music shows up right on time, in what became spiritual many times this week.

Something people don’t think about is how - because drums are solely rhythmic (not focused on melody or lyrics) - it can be a vehicle to get out of your head and leave no other option but a fully embodied experience, focused on nothing but a *feeling* (not a thought).

Before a gig, I think about how I have the chance to change the feeling of everyone in the room, in what feels like a deeply primal, human, and collective way, based on my drumming.

This week that initial heaviness morphed into tearing up during a 12-min, totally improvised ambient hip hop remake of Radiohead “Everything In Its Right Place” with good friends and heavyweight musicians, plus cutting loose to a new degree in Tahoe and Sacramento with amazing musicians and new friends.

Grateful for the groove.

“Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow” is simultaneously funk music gospel and spiritual wisdom. Maybe they’re one and the same.

Grateful for the amazing musicians, bands and DJ’s I’ve been creating with - and will be playing with soon - feeling inspired every day.

There is freedom in the groove. 🛸🪩
