Thousands of years ago, people crossed the sea to Cyprus in simple boats, bringing their families, livestock, tools and basic belongings in search of fertile land and a new beginning. What did these early settlers look like? What did they sound like, and what might they have experienced as they arrived on an unfamiliar island?

Through reconstructions, we can reimagine these distant scenes, bringing the people and landscapes of Neolithic Cyprus to life. Yet it is the work of archaeologists, uncovering ancient settlements, tools, pottery and other evidence, that helps us understand how these communities lived and how they shaped the island's early history.

Many episodes of the History of Cyprus Podcast have explored these fascinating discoveries, revealing the stories behind the archaeology. Be sure to tune in every month to new stories and interviews on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your Podcasts.

Fresh air, stunning views and a little leg workout. 🥾🌿

Kyparissia Trail, on the excellent advice of the great Cypriot nature explorer @boramarkovicphotography . Close to Limassol, so no half-day road trip required. Gorgeous nature, rocky bits and the occasional slip to keep you humble. 😂

But with the best company, even a few wobbly moments are part of the fun!

🇬🇧: Cyprus is not the kind of destination where I’d want to spend the whole week by the pool 🏖️🇨🇾

If you’re flying all the way there, go see what’s beyond the resort too. That’s exactly how I fell in love with Cyprus – not through the hotel, but through everything in between the stops 🫶🏼 #maciktravels
