It’s no secret that we love going to 100% vegan @secretpizzapdx. You don’t have to be vegan to enjoy their crave-worthy food, but once you’ve had some, you’ll see that being vegan is not about deprivation. Such a win for you, the other animals, and our 🌎! Gluten-free options are available. On our most recent visit we enjoyed their fabulous BBQ soy curls two ways.
⠀
@secretpizzapdx is open for pickup, delivery, and dine-in every day: 11 AM – 9 PM Mon – Thurs, 11 AM – 10 PM Fri, 1 – 10 PM Sat, and 1 – 9 PM Sun.
⠀
We savored:
⠀
Reddy Kilowatt Pizza – red, orange, and yellow sweet peppers, red onions, tender and meaty BBQ soy curls standing in for 🐥, intensely flavorful sundried tomato pesto, and po’Fredo (a blend of potato, fresh basil, coconut cream, and other spices). This has an irresistibly delicious mix of meaty, creamy, savory, and sweet that is guaranteed to brighten your day. The crust, as always, had a satisfyingly chewy crumb and crispy edges, with a light sprinkle of salt. (Can be made gluten-free.)
⠀
BBQ Cobb Salad – mixed greens, BBQ soy curls, roasted peppers and onions, tomatoes, smoky 🐷-free tempeh 🥓, and creamy, tangy ranch dressing. There is so much delicious and hearty 🌱-based meatiness in this, and it’s infinitely better than the traditional animal-derived version. It’s easily a meal on its own.

🍕 Everyone loves pizza. So much so that we dedicate the entire month of October to the delectable dish. While Portland once lagged behind many of its peers in the pizza department, these days there are plenty of places in town that would give New York or Chicago a run for their money. Celebrate National Pizza Month with a trip (or three) to your favorite neighborhood purveyor of pies.

We have listed a few at the link in our bio to get you started.

Road trip so nice, I gotta do it twice ✌️

Day 1 of of my road trip with X

After a short time home to do laundry and repack, I drove back up to Portland and flew out to pickup X 🥰 We got into Portland mid day but still made it out to Thunderbird, a skateboarding competition, trippy mini golf, and dinner at Secret Pizza Society 🤘

@portlandmercury Burger Week ranking.
I sacrificed myself 😅 and tried all the vegan burger places of Portland Burger Week (yes, I had burger for every lunch this week lol at least I biked to all the places and I promise I ate raw veggies and fruit too 🫣) and here is my ranking

Winner, first place: Secret Pizza Society with the ‘Rhaenyra’s Reign’. A housemade black bean patty, cashew nacho cheese, pickled jalapeno and Portland fresh salsa in between a housemade bun.
- this burger might not look the best but it is the best. Loving all the labor behind the scenes, the flavor, the spiceness and literally everything about it. It’s definitely a winner!

Second place: goes to Mirisata with the ‘Deviled Burger’. Their famous deviled pork, Impossible patty, curry leaf ranch, banana peppers, tomato and onion.
- this burger is small but big in flavor. It’s unique and definitely a great combo of ingredients. The deviled pork is so good and so is the curry leaf ranch. Second place!

Third place: goes to Next Level with the ‘Smoky Mountain BBQ chicken burger. Crispy chik’n patty topped with house-made Nashville fire seasoning, grilled jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, and crispy onion rings. Served on a butter toasted pretzel bun with Memphis sweet BBQ sauce and organic lettuce and tomato
- this burger definitely was the best looking burger of all of them. I love pretzel buns and everything was very good, but Secret pizza and Mirisata were just better. Still a great tasting burger. And their milkshakes are always outstanding.

Fourth place: goes to DC Vegetarian with their ‘BBQ chicken bacon cheeseburger’. Crispy breaded chicken patty, house BBQ sauce, house-marinated tempeh bacon, a slice of cheese, pickles, crispy fried onions, and vegenaise on a sesame seed bun.
- this burger is good but not as good as the others. I love DC for their sandwiches and especially their Reuben goes in my Portland top five but the Burger Week burger was not my favorite.

And this is Burger Week stop number three and so far my favorite burger. @secretpizzapdx is presenting an all made from scratch burger with housemade bun, housemade black bean patty, cashew queso, pickled jalapeno and Portland fresh salsa. This burger is absolutely delicious, spicy and I appreciate all the made from scratch work! It’s not just a frozen patty slapped on a bun. Five stars! Extra star for outstanding sweet staff members!

100% vegan @secretpizzapdx makes fantastic pizzas, but it’s no secret that they have additional amazing talents. Everything they make shows convincingly that being vegan is not about deprivation. Such a win for all of us, the other animals, and our 🌎! They are participating in @portlandmercury’s Portland Burger Week, which runs through Sunday, 8/16. The delicious and nourishing burger that they made especially for this event is only $10.
⠀

We savored:
⠀
Rhaenyra’s Reign – black bean patty, cashew nacho cheese, pickled jalapeños, portland.fresh salsa, and shredded lettuce on a fresh-baked homemade bun that was both fluffy and wonderfully chewy, as delicious as their amazing pizza crusts. This was lively, hearty, flavorful, and satisfying. It’s available gluten-free.
⠀
BBQ Cobb Salad – mixed greens, BBQ soy curls, roasted peppers and onions, tomatoes, smoky 🐷-free tempeh 🥓, and creamy, tangy ranch dressing. There is so much flavor and delicious and hearty 🌱-based meatiness in this, and it’s infinitely better than the traditional animal-derived version. It’s easily a meal on its own.
⠀
Peanut Butter and Jelly Cake Slice made by Allie Fiery of 100% vegan @twotwentytwopastry – with vanilla cake, peanut butter buttercream on the sides, strawberry buttercream on the top and in the middle, and chopped peanuts on top, this was decadently delicious and fun.
