Don’t worry if you haven’t experienced this yet. Here are 5 things to do in Portland that basically count as a rite of passage:

• Wait in line at Tin Shed like you’re auditioning for a patience documentary
• Skate at a Secret Roller Disco
• Spend a full Saturday at the Portland Famers Market at PSU and somehow leave with earrings, hot sauce, and gorgeous flowers but forgot vegetables.
• Order the “I know what I’m doing” combo: a Pip’s doughnut + Extracto coffee (and defend your choices confidently)
• Pick a perfect Forest Park trail, get a little turned around, and pretend it was the plan all along
• Experience the classic “it’s sunny—jk it’s raining—wait it’s sunny again” weather shift in the same outfit

Once you’ve checked a few of these off, you can officially start acting like you’ve been here forever.

Comment FALL and I’ll send you my free 2026 Fall Guide with local events, seasonal favorites, and things worth adding to your calendar.

I’m @suziemayesrealtor, a Portland, OR Real Estate Broker sharing the places, traditions, and little things that make living here feel like home.

Dolly 🩵 Roll In Paradise - a tribute to a forever force that will continue to rock & roll our worlds ♥️ thank you @secretrollerdisco for hosting & my favorite @djmaxx_bass was absolutely magical on this set per usual, but this night was so very potent ✨🌕 ty! +
@bennyd.mov we appreciate these incredible photos. The pink backdrop & props couldn't have been better 🩷 I love how the community came together for the Queen herself.

🌕 Full moon energies powered us from overhead & blessed us all. An abundance of emotions were felt & released + recycled back into this universe as we grieved the physical loss of greatness & so much more.. the exchange of energy was super potent this evening and I felt deeply intune.

Thank you to my sweet honey @mr.potato.wedge for capturing me in a moment of release. I haven't always been so confident in expressing myself when it comes to dance or performing so I was really enjoying this moment of passion between me, myself, and Jared + the lots of other Dollys 😅 The Eve moment with the crew was hyping me up too. Hell Yeah Maxx Bass!!

There are two Dolly Parton rides on the calendar this week and a skate event, too!

>>> Tonight — Dolly: We will always love you, led by @aye__calypso and friends. Meet at Colonel Summers at 6:30pm

“Join us tonight for one of the many celebrations of our beloved Dolly - We’ll listen to her music as we travel down greenways and by some spots we think Dolly would have loved in our city.” - Ada

>>> Friday — Secret Roller Disco: Theme Dolly by @secretrollerdisco. Starts at 7pm at Convention Center Plaza. Bring your skates or rent them there. They don’t say it, but… obviously you’ll want to wear your rhinestones.

>>> Sunday — Dolly Parton and Tim Curry Memorial Ride by @c_bozzy3 and @thatsmejustbri. Meet at Salmon Street Springs at noon.
- Homemade Appalachian BBQ — First come, first served!
- 12:30 Dedication Open Mic — Share a memory, a song, a story, or a few words of appreciation.
- 1pm Square Dancing with the Rose Town Ramblers — Get your boots (or bike shoes) moving!
- Then we ride out at 1:45! (This ride is a loop)
- We’ll hit the streets blasting music, spreading joy, and celebrating two absolute icons on a fun loop ride that brings us back around.
- Bring your bike, your friends, and all the Dolly-and-Tim-inspired energy you can muster. Costumes, wigs, sequins, theatrical flair, cowboy glamour, fishnets, or anything else that feels appropriately fabulous are highly encouraged.

—
Photos shared by @aye__calypso showing possible stop locations, plus fliers for all three events.
