Song#5/100: Vivienne. Another first moment! First long-term breakup song. And it's not even about the person. It's about the dog we shared. Breakup didn't break me. But losing that dog in an amicable, non-judicious way, kinda did. (People gotta do this with kids?! JFC) I loved that dog, even if it was a crazy little shit.

I wrote and recorded this without thinking. It couldn't have taken me more than 15 minutes. It's a simple song. I was messing with an open tuning that was new to me, C-G-C-G-C-E. I can't remember where I got turned onto it.. my guess is Townes Van Zandt?

Its almost a cliche thing, but you hear this from alot of songwriters.. The song just came to 'em. There's so many times, you try and try. And you don't get shit. Eventually you gotta get off the pot cuz someone else is knocking on your stall.

But when you pass that turd without needing to polish it...Is it some divine connection to the rest of human consciousness? Cathartic personal release? One too many nights spent listening to songs that get you through it? All of the above? Or just indigestion? The world may never know🍭

I didn't have any good photos of me and the pup. So here's one of Vivienne with the Slack Mafioso, the legendary, the sexual, Chocolate🐶

See ya tomorrow
