An 18–6 win to send us to the state quarterfinals this weekend is reason enough to celebrate. Coach’s 200th career win made the night even more special. Congratulations Coach Schembri on this milestone achievement! 🎉🥍

Mercy defeats previously undefeated Charles Finney School 20-7 @ Mercy High School on “The Hill.” Pics by Sebastian.

The tandem of Veleda White and Brooklyn Albritton accounted for 13 flag pulls for the Monarchs.
Evelyn O’Dell’s INT with 6:50 in the 4th quarter and Jane Topa’s pass break up at the goal line with 2:10 left in the game sealed the deal for Mercy, knocking off the defending Class C Sectional Champs.

Despite heavy winds all night, especially in the 2nd half of the game, Lilian Quinto was again spectacular at flipping the field. She “turned the ball over” twice and pinned Finney back in their half of the field. Special Teams player of the game for Mercy once again.

The rest of the night belonged to Ja’Yonna Willis; scoring all three Mercy TDs and racking up over 100 yards of total offense.

With 31.9 seconds left in the first quarter, she ran it in from 4 yards out to get the TD. PAT was good when Laura Kosten found Mackenzie Stoutenberg in the endzone to go up 7-0.

With 4:45 left in the second quarter, Laura Kosten’s 21 yard pass found Ja’Yonna Willis near the sideline and she did the rest taking it another 24 yards to the house making 4 Finney defenders miss along the way. PAT was good as Laura Kosten found Arwen Gamez inside the endzone. Mercy leads 14-0.

With 1:43 remaining in the 2nd quarter, Laura Kosten found Ja’Yonna Willis in the middle of the field for 9 yards and Ja’Yonna did the rest. Ja’Yonna took it 21 yards to the house beating 3 defenders in the open field. PAT was no good. Mercy up 20-0. #GirlsFlag, #GirlsFlagFootball, #NFLFLAG, #FlagFootball, #GirlsHSFlag, WomensFlagFootball, FlagFootballFamily, GirlsHSFlag, GirlsHighSchoolFootball, FlagFootballLife, GirlsWhoPlay, BillsMafia, @primetime585 @pickinsplinters houseofrocsports @buffalobills

NEW RANKINGS! Check out the Week 5 rankings for Division 1 as we head into the New Year!

Webster Schroeder continues to impress with a huge ranked win over WFL Panthers. It doesn't get easier for the Warriors as they have Irondequoit and Victor on the other side of the new year.

Hamburg moves up after a huge ranked win over Aquinas. A manageable schedule awaits Hamburg until two ranked matchups vs. Ken West and Starpoint mid January.

Pelham drops slightly due to a tie vs. Lancaster but a dominant win against a mediocre Stepinac team. A matchup with Skaneateles on Friday will be the matchup of the week!

Starpoint rebounded against Grand Island but not in impressive fashion. We need to see more sound defending if Starpoint wants to be a Section title contender.

Aquinas moves up due to some other teams suffering defeats but a close loss to Hamburg and a nice rebound against Frontier keeps them afloat.

Skaneateles also moves up after a dominant performance against a struggling Clinton team. But sure brings back memories of recent years with that 11-1 win. Pelham awaits the Lakers in the matchup of the week.

Franklin Academy might be the best team you've never heard of. a dominant 6-0 win over Beekmantown just adds to their impressive season thus far. Their strength of schedule thus far has held them back but a matchup with OFA awaits on 1/9.

Kenmore West took a tough loss to Gates-Chili but have a manageable schedule until a meeting with Niagara Wheatfield and Hamburg mid-January.

Rye drops due to other teams being active but don't worry, Rye has one of the toughest schedules coming up in the state that will put them to the test. Matchups to look out for: Pelham (x2), Canton, Shenendehowa, Queensbury, Rivertowns, Mamaroneck.

Williamsville North enters the chat once again after going 5 games unbeaten but also recording shutouts in 3 straight games!

To all the hockey fans out there, have a Happy New Year!
