Dear LA friends, I’m so excited to bring my new field recordings from Northern California into my live performance at the @secularsabbath Loft this Saturday, October 24.

It’ll be a 90-minute extended soundscape with lots of improvisation, tape looping, synthesizers, dictaphones, and of course my collection of birds and other field recordings.

📼 The video in this reel was recorded earlier this month in Mendocino County, along the King Range coast in Northern California.

LA, I’m stoked for my show at the @secularsabbath Loft on Saturday, October 24th at 7pm.

This time, my soundscapes will include new field recordings I made in Northern California this month, from the dripping redwoods of Prairie Creek to the winds of Mendocino and the creeks of Big Sur and the Eastern Sierra.

This is an extended version of my performance, with birds, erased loops, synths, dictaphones, and more, and I’m so excited to bring it all to the loft.

Tickets are limited because of the space, and we want everyone to feel comfortable.

LA, Oct 24. My next show at the @secularsabbath Loft in DTLA.

It’ll be the full-scale performance with all my gear, but with a very limited number of tickets.

This time, it’s going to be a bit more froggy and cricket-driven than usual.

So excited to collaborate with @gene.vi.eve again and bring my living soundscapes back to Secular Sabbath.

LA, I’m so excited to bring an extended version of my live show to the @secularsabbath Loft on Saturday, October 24th.

The performance will include my birds, field recordings from different places around the world, synthesizers, live tape loops and tape echoes, acoustic resonators, flying microphones, and more.

I’m somewhere between the Eastern Sierra and the Oregon coast right now, still developing the show and collecting new sounds along the way. Some of them will definitely find their way into this set.

Since it’s a loft, the number of tickets will be very limited so everyone has enough space to feel comfortable.

-part2… a universe where you are wandering around with no plan and suddenly stumble upon the iconic el pulpo blasting hip hop with fire shooting into the sky, where tutu tuesday lasts two days, where ice cream, tattoos and a spicy margarita are perfectly acceptable breakfast, and where you can volunteer at the post office and spend your afternoon running around the city delivering postcards to strangers only to keep getting distracted by whatever else is happening along the way.

where one of your dreams comes true and you hold a tea ceremony while people are doing shibari, then later meet the german mick jagger, dance everywhere, laugh until your stomach hurts and share a clementine with strangers in the middle of a dust storm.

where you somehow end up falling asleep amongst pillows and moroccan blankets before getting back up and continuing the night, only to be picked up by an art car at 4 in the morning and ride it straight into the sunrise, arriving at the titanic while someone is playing live violin beside it — just like when it sank, duh.

where breakfast somehow becomes a cereal library filled with all the childhood cereals you forgot existed, and where you turn a corner and suddenly find yourself riding alongside the burning man ultramarathon runners. the sun is coming up over the playa, they are beginning their morning, and you are still very much living in the previous night. we were laughing so hard we could barely ride. eventually we rode back to camp, and i remember thinking that i might actually be the happiest person alive.
all these completely surreal burning man scenes where you look around and think, of course this exists here.

trying to keep up with people on e-bikes while you’re on a regular bike across deep playa is also a very special kind of burning man suffering, but then a barn art car appears in the dust with couches around a fire and people partner dancing under the moonlight. and somehow that becomes exactly where you are supposed to be.
then the sun comes up over the nevada mountains and someone starts making coffee and quesadillas and the sun, the moon, day and night all meet at the same fire…

omg this last Tuesday night … I think most of us were all in tears by the end of it!! meeting u in person, getting to meditate with you, and showing you the blissed out video for the first time in such an intimate setting was such a dream for me. can’t wait to do more in person stuff very soon .
