This Wednesday is the last day to see the ‘Heart of Brockley’ exhibition at Crofton Park Library! This exhibition was originally curated by Crofton Park Library manager Nikki Wheeler in 2025. It played a part in ESEA Heritage Month and was documented in the Brockley Max Festival across 2025 & 2026. Fully supported by @calicoprojects, this body of artwork contributed by Ms Carry (@artcarryhornby) showcases the beauty of calligraphy scripts and paintings. Examples of ancient calligraphy scripts are also shown in the exhibition. Together with the series of talks and calligraphy workshops that have now successfully wrapped up, this exhibition contributes to the spread and understanding of Asian calligraphy art & culture.
Thank you! 🧧📚💐

The “Art of LianPu” exhibition officially ended today.

A massive, heartfelt thank you to @canvasandcreamse23 team for their relentless support throughout the show, and to everyone who came down to experience it.

It has been an absolute joy sharing the beauty and rich traditions of Peking Opera facial mask art for this year’s East & South East Asian (ESEA) Heritage Month celebrations.

For those who want to revisit the collection (or if you missed out!), an official exhibition catalogue is currently in progress to document all the exhibiting artworks. It will be available very soon. Newsletter updates to follow! 📚❤️🎭

A local screening of the new film from the National Emergency Briefing - a public information initiative on the climate and nature crisis.

📢 A special community screening: The People's Emergency Briefing #PEBuk with a focus on food security and resilience.

What's happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK?

Join us for a screening of the People's Emergency Briefing - an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:

🌧️ Extreme weather🍞 Food security🏥 Health💷 Cost of living

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

After the film there will be a short panel discussion with Sareta Puri from Sustain, Cat Flannery from Big Urban Grow and Mel Shakespeare from Foodcycle about what it means for our community and what we can do locally to become more resilient.

We have invited the local MP, Ellie Reeves, and are optimistic that they will join with constituents for this important discussion about our future.

Seats are free but limited so please book in advance.

Bring a friend, neighbour or family member: everyone is welcome.

Link to book in bio.

Immensely delighted to present a set of four poetry including the legendary poet Li Bai, titled “Leaving White Emperor City at Dawn” (早發白帝城) to accompany the epic hand painted LianPu - face painting art exhibition currently showcasing at @canvasandcreamse23

Completed with ink on paper, deeply & inspired by my ESEA heritage and the world of operatic facial art. While the Lian-Pu art (operatic facial painting) tells a story of the powerful warlords, the tragic King & his ultimate love to the wild & untamed spirit of golden monkey, the poems transforming the emotional energy into beautiful literary rhythms.

This collection is currently exhibited at @canvasandcreamse23 in celebration of ESEA heritage month.

You are warmly invited to visit the exhibition from now or join me at the private viewing on 17th of September 6-8 pm. I would love to know which one you most resonate with!

Some background reading can be accessed via bio Substack publication link. Accompanying talks, and workshops can also be booked via bio or directly at Canvas & Cream.
