Where is your mind?

When my mind is spent on myself, I’m never in a state of peace. But If indeed we were created to have our minds spent on God, it makes sense that peace is a byproduct when I’m meditating on God. Loving God with our mind’s meditation will yield a fruit of peace that blesses our lives. I definitely experience this tangibly when Christ is the main meditation of my day. This verse has been helpful to me:

3 You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3

There are types of knowledge that we see partnered in Pauline literature and in other parts of the New Testament:

GNOSKO: intimate, experiential knowledge. And GNOSIS: conceptual, factual, statistical knowledge.

We need both. I cannot just have Gnosis. The point of Gnosis is to know God intimately (Gnosko) in worship. I can’t just have Gnosko, I need proper knowledge of the God I’m worshipping and knowing.

Father’s are important.

This is the last verse of Old Testament:
Malachi 4:
5 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. 6 And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.”

Children and Father’s coming together is such a central part of God’s mission.
The core of the Kingdom is a Father and a Son.

There is an agenda from hell that has been attacking the father role. Because that’s who God is in His core, a Father. When men step up and be father’s, the world sees an image of God that is necessary for the good of humanity.

Does God hate?

Proverbs 6
16 There are six things that the Lord hates,
seven that are an abomination to him:
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked plans,
feet that make haste to run to evil,
19 a false witness who breathes out lies,
and one who sows discord among brothers.

God loves us and hates sin. Sin destroys his creation and is what caused separation between us and God. God is love because God also hates evil.

We can get lost by going too far ahead of God.
“Wait on the Lord” is a common theme in David’s psalms..

I’d rather God to be with me, then me getting lost, going out on my own.

It’s God being with us that is everything. There’s a temptation to want God to fulfill a promise to me, without His presence. I’m sure you’ve heard something like that before..
The truth is, is it’s hard to be a sheep.. we have to die to our own way, knowing though, that His way is better. And with Him, no enemy can touch us… come back to the flock. God promises covering with his flock..

When drinking becomes an idol.

Drinking is a theme we observe throughout the Biblical narrative. Jesus’ first miracle was changing 120-180 gallons of water into wine at a wedding. And the end of the biblical story is us drinking wine with Christ in the new kingdom. Wine is celebratory and can be joyful, but just like most good things in the world, they can be abused and used for evil.

I was reading in 1 Samuel the other day and the Holy Spirit was highlighting the idolatry of alcohol and really anything we go to, to gain rest, peace, or strength outside of God.
Hannah instead of going to a bottle, was pouring a drink of her pain unto the Lord. And the LORD heard her! What if our idols are indeed keeping us from successful prayer?

May we always pour out our bitter or broken spirit before the Lord. He wants that drink, and wants to give us a drink of His Spirit instead.

“And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.” Revelation 19:6

Currently in Lord of the Rings book II. I’m reading about the fairness and glory of the Lords of Rivendell and their might.

It sparked in me a contemplation on one of the greatest names of Jesus: “The King of kings and the Lord of lords.” All lords of history real and imagined, will bow down and call Jesus King and Lord. He is the most magnificent, glorious, beautiful, and mighty among all created beings. As the author of creation, he is the source of majesty itself. Come Lord Jesus.

Col. 3:1-4 “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your[a] life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”

Let God carry you.

Psalm 55:22 (NLT): “Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall”.

Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV): “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls”.

1 Peter 5:7 (ESV): “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you”.

Isaiah 46:4 (NIV): “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you”.

Psalm 68:19 (NIV): “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens”.

Isaiah 41:13 (NIV): “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you”.
