Adding 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🗣️INTERNATIONAL YAPPER to my resumé! Taking up space on bigger stages, sharing my work and my passions.

It was such an honor to join CEO of @hinge THEE Jackie Jantos 💫 across the pond at the inaugural SXSW LONDON! @sxswlondon

Why? Young people are spending ONE THOUSAND [less] HOURS each year connecting with people IRL! Yep. It’s an actual lonliness epidemic. 💔

Hinge, being experts in bringing people together, is supporting community leaders like myself who bring people together ✨IRL✨for connection and community.

Being able to connect with someone romantically hinges 😉 on someone’s ability to show up as a happy and whole version of themselves. And guess what, even tho @hinge is a big tech company, they know we need ✨IRL CONNECTION✨ to achieve that! And as someone who had a career in tech before being a full time community builder, IT’S SO REFRESHING to see tech brands like Hinge who get that and are putting in work to find solutions, even offline, and support people on the ground ALREADY DOING THE WORK.

Our chat, moderated by @adweek graciously allowed me to voice a gripe I’ve had for a while- that so many brands are co-opting the word “community,” by simply using that word to refer to their customers. 🥴 I know sales 101 told yall to “agitate the pain point”…. but…. come on. Let’s do better.

💁🏽‍♀️To me, the event was an opportunity to share how our partnership w Hinge is an example of what brands doing better and serving their audience BEST looks like. Hinge is building “WITH not for” and doing lotssss of active listening.🫶🏽 I’m inspired by the caring, hard working dream team of humans at Hinge who totally get it!

🙏🏾I hope more brands take note, and understand how to authentically work WITH communities, toward long term solutions for everyday people, together.

Bonus- while in London I got to give flowers to my talented friend @stephenlamiller ✨on his first international showcase “American Girl,” which was a beautiful and inspiring vibe!! 📸🖼️🌹

Full circle, as this is who showed up at the beach at our first ever @intrsxtn_surf event almost 5 yrs ago to capture 🎞️the day our community was born!!
